Sport Question about eggs

Sport Fitness
Hey guys. I wanted to get some eggs into my diet daily-- Is this a good idea? I wanted to scramble them and fix about 3-4 eggs every morning for myself ... maybe add a dash of salt/pepper. Essentially, are eggs worth the benefits even though they can be kind of fatty? Or should I try and stay away from them

My goals currently are to gain muscle while trying to attain SOME of my leanness, but willing to sacrifice some for muscle gain (then just cut later)....

thoughts? advice? comments?

any help would be great, thanks!

Eggs are a great idea. Take the yoke out of 3 and leave the 4th. Or like me try eggbeaters to drop some fat.

I pour them into a coffee cup add pepper and crushed red pepper to spice, nuke, then add it to a English muffin with some sliced turkey. yummy

Almost all of the nutrients and half of the protein are in the yolk. They're great as long as they fit into your daily allotment.

ewwy johnny nuked eggs? is that any good lol?

True

Something like
Eggs 75 calories and 6gs protein
Egg white 17 calories 3gs of protein

I’m trying to lose so it’s egg whites or eggbeaters for me

So take the yolk out or nah? I have an eggbeater that could help I suppose. I'm a little guy, I honestly don't have very much fat in my diet right now, so I guess I could get it here early in the day...

you are going to get FAT like PB...

lol sorry PB just kidding!!!!

I think so, give a go once. I'll cook it a bit then have to poke it with a fork and mix it up again before renuking...then it's all set

Yeah, nuked eggs are good, they're quick and basically like a boiled egg. I cook them in coffee cups too, I use all the yolks though :)

Definitely keep them in if you don't have much other good fat sources. Eggs are a great fat source. Most of the saturated fat is stearic acid, which has actually been shown to reduce cholesterol. And if you're worried about the actual cholesterol that eggs contain, the dietary form does not translate into the cholesterol that you find in your blood.

The only thing that I can see holding you back here is simply that they are calorie dense and you might not want all the yolks so that you could eat more food while cutting. They can be quite filling though, which is great, especially when you're trying to lose fat.

It's not that clearcut on eggs and dietary cholesterol. You can find refereed journal citations that indicate that dietary cholesterol has minimal effect on serum cholesterol (and doesn't clog your arteries) but you can find refereed journal citations that indicate that dietary cholesterol does increase serum cholesterol.

FWIW, the American Heart Association recommends a max of 300mg of dietary cholesterol / day and an average egg yolk has 213 mg cholesterol, so if you want to stay within the AHA recommendations, you can eat up to 1 egg yolk / day. If you want to exceed the AHA recommendations, that is your prerogative as well.

Johnnysolo's recommendation to use the yolk from one egg and the whites from 4 eggs seems prudent to me.

I exceed it daily. Doubly so. For years. Cholesterol is excellent.

The eating of just eggs whites is one of the biggest dietary failures of all time.

And still others which say that dietary cholesterol makes little difference in blood cholesterol for most people, but a significant difference in blood cholesterol for some people.

Of course, you wouldn't know which group you are in without testing your blood cholesterol after periods of different diets which are similar other than dietary cholesterol content (this is harder than it looks, since changing foods for this purpose changes other nutrients as well).

everyone is so afraid of fat. Don't be afraid of fat. There is nothing wrong with the yolk, and if you throw it out, you're throwing out half the protein.

People are afraid of the yolk because of the cholesterol, but for most people, dietary cholesterol doesn't really affect the blood lipid levels all that much.
