Hi all :) I have been reading about all your amazing achievements and I am more then intrigued. I accidently came across Cohen's last week on the web and then I recieved a flyer through the mail on the weekend (spooky).

I have an appointment booked for this week. I do have a few queries which I would like to run by you first if I may.

1 The cost $680.00.
2. I was told by the consultant at the clinic that it was a 12 week programme.
3.Blood test cost are not included in this.

So does that mean you pay again for another 12 weeks?

I know weight loss through this programme is fast but even so we all lose at different degrees and some have been on this programme since February and before. How does the refeeding part fit into this.

So what do you get for your $680.00? I would appreciate your feedback. I have checked with my health insurer and they don't provide any assistance with this plan. (only WW and Jenny Graig).

Thanks for listening

Sam:p

Hi,
I assume from the cost that you are in Australia. There is an internet program, which I think runs for 12 weeks. But the length of the program in Australia is dependent upon how much weight you have to lose. Mine is for 12 months (which is the maximum time). But others have shorter contracts.
The blood tests are $20 a go. So, you have your initial one, then most months there is another one. The refeeding is included in the cost.

The $680 gets you your initial program, the refeeding and regular clinic visits/ consults (some do this via phone/ email).

While it seems like a lot, it is actually comparable or less than other programs. WW you pay per visit, and takes longer to lose weight. Jenny Craig is a flat fee, but then you pay over $100/week for food, which adds up very quickly.

and the program is sooo effective!! I've lost over 28kg in 4 months.... it took me a year to lose 20kg on Jenny Craig and I put it all back on again straight away.

So, for me the $680 is actually priceless!

Thanks for the feedback heavenly lamb when I see results like yours and others I difinitely think that the price is of little relevance especially with the results I see posted.

I will wait and speak with the consultant and take it from there.

Look forward to getting to know all of you over time.

Regards

Sam:)

Hi!
My program cost me $680 too (included invididual program, stabilisation program (refeed), monthly visits to my consultant, but some people choose to go more often than this and it doesn't cost them any more and support/corespondance via email and phone) and it was worth every cent! My contract was for 12 months also. I got my program through a consultant on Bribie Island. My blood test costs were $22 for the initial on and then $11 for each subsequent one after that.
I have nothing but praise for this program and I highly recommend it! One of the best things about it is that you eat 'normal' food throughout the program so there is no big 'change' in your diet when you complete the program, which essentially eliminates the risk of putting all the weight back on again.

Thanks Jodie
12 months sounds much more reasonable compared to 12 weeks.
The results of this programme seem to speak volumes when I see weight loss such as yours and others. It is very inspiring, and what a great sight this is, a place to vent all your weight woes to others that under stand and most of all care. My next delimma will be should I start now or wait till Xmas is over.
Thanks
Sam

Hi Sam

About this time last year I decided that enough was enough, and went to an information session with my husband. We were going to give the program to each other as a Christmas present.

Needless to say, we didn't do anything.

We had to rush to UK in early January, and when we came back I was even heavier - in two weeks I had put on two kilos. So that Saturday I went for the fasting blood test and started the program on 4th February, completing on 24th June, exactly 20 weeks to lose 25 kilos.

I have remained at 60 kilos ever since - that's five months ago.

If you are debating when to start perhaps you are not 'fed up' enough yet (yes, the pun is intended!).

We can only make change when we are ready to change. Christmas, holidays, birthdays, there will always be something, and you will remain obese until you decide to change.

I didn't like being obese. Whenever I made a comment about my increasing girth people would say things like 'Oh, you're not too bad' or 'Well, that's what happens when you get older' or 'Well, you're very busy'.

Those same people, when they see me now, say 'Wow! You look great!' or 'You look about ten years younger' or 'Gosh! You've got no bottom left at all!'

If I was alright before, how come the difference is so noticeable and I look so terrific now!

I was not alright before. I was obese. Now I'm not.

If you are serious about making a change, start now.

If you are only talking about losing weight for conversational purposes, put it off for as long as you like. It makes absolutely no difference to any body else, but it does to you. It's your body, and if you read through some of these posts, and read about pain killers for crook joints and sleep machines for sleep apnoea and not being able to tie up your own shoe laces, and Type 2 Diabetes and all of the very real and horrible things which obesity can do to you, then one meal at Christmas fades in to insignificance.

The $680 fee is very reasonable. My contract was for 9 months. I finished the program at the top of the medical healthy weight range for my height and age. If I had known how stable the weight would be, I would have stayed on for another two weeks and dropped another two kilos. This would have made a difference between and size 8 and a size 10 in trousers.

But - you have to be ready. The program is strict, precise, requires diligence and honesty, and it works.

And at the end of it - a youthful, shapely, lithe and fantastic new you!

And dont forget - this program requires as much rest as possible, you lose weight and shrink in your sleep, and apart from normal moving about, there is NO EXERCISE! There really is no excuse. And Christmas is largely over rated, anyway!

Cheers

Chelsea

I love your posts Chelsea!!:D They always hit the mark spot on!!
You should be selling this program!!!:D:D
I've been struggling a little myself over the past week and seem to have lost my Cohen's mojo. Just having my own mental battles really... but after reading your post to Sam you made me realise that I can do this, it isn't too hard, time has flown since being on this for the last 8 weeks and time is going to pass by anyway and I want to look amazing at the end!! So thank you for snapping me out of my negative brain invasion!

Thanks Jodie

Well as of today I am 29KG down, it is great to be 29KG less than I was less than 4 months ago.

If you dont start now because Christmas is "just around the corner" then beware; Cohen diet is strict and it is tough particularly at the start when your body, mind, family, friends, media and the rest of the human race apparently seem to conspire for you to "go on just a little taste". However must admit I started the program after a holiday to Thailand and Hong Kong rather than before because I knew that I needed a stable home environment to get going.

You really have to ask yourself the question what am I prepared to accept to lose weight? Are you prepared to say "no" to going out and drinking/eating with your best friends? What about your mums/dads/aunts/mother-in-laws cooking that they have prepared just for you because it is your favorite? Will you feel that you have to eat a bit to make them happy? How often are you too busy to cook and buy takeaway? What about lunches at work are you buying or do you bring them to work? Cohen is as much about planning and execution (of your meals) as it is of motivation and self-control.

Yes people on this forum have lost weight which speaks volumes for the excellence of the program, but there have been many members who have dropped of the wagon and havent been back.

You could try from tomorrow with my "Preparation for Cohen"

Hey there all.

I just wanted to add a little something. I have tried every diet under the sun and this program is the only one that I stick to. On weight watchers your allowed to treat yorself a few times a week or you can add that chocolate bar into your points, but this is so different you don't really feel like eating anything bad, if you do I think it's our minds playing tricks on us.

I had to blow my plan the last two days due to dizzy spells and almost passing out and had to take advice from my doctor and it was because of that time of the month and going for a long walk. never again, it was so bad, i couldn't even pick up my baby.

So when you join, listen to your consultant and if they recommend no excersice I would definately avoid it especially if it's that time of the month.

Good Luck and you will do great, and besides where all here to support you.
Welcome to the cohen's clan. hehe di

Yes you are all right - But I do not want to fail AGAIN and with school holidays approaching, xmas, new years etc........................ and a few b'thdays as well.

What I am trying to say is that if and when I do start this programme I want to be fully prepared. The mental challenge to prepare is just that a CHALLENGE and I have been down this road (like many of you have) so many times before. And the programme is strickt from what I read.

Tomorrow is my appointment I am excited so will let you know how I go.

Thanks again for your feedback

Hi Sam,
When Chelsea first started on the program, she wrote about it in another forum some of us are a part of. I knew that I really wanted to do it, but knew I wasn't emotionally prepared for it. So, I did wait a few months before joining up.
If I'd joined up initially, its possible I'd be finished by now, which would have been great. but theres also the possibility I would have given up because I wasn't ready to lose weight.
But one day I woke up and just knew I needed to do it THAT day. So, I rang up, went to an introductory session and joined up. Had my blood test 2 days later and started a week later. and then I was ready.
So, don't use excuses not to start, but I believe you'll know when its time.

Thanks heavenlylamb
I really do want to do this programme and succeed.
So being mentally ready is so important.
If I fail this programme it will be a real let down (another) so I need to be POSITIVE.
Thanks Sam
