Pushups on non-workout days?!

On Mon, Wed, Fri. I do upper body intensive workouts until I kill my arms chest and etc. And the other days I work my legs and run.
If I were to do 100 pushups in the morning and at night on my rest day for my upperbody, would that be depriving my upperbody of its rest day?

I just wanna know if It wouldn't be overkill to do 100 pushups at night and day everyday, while giving my body the rest it needs.

rest day

rest day is a rest day for a reason

I understand that, but a physical trainer told me pushups can be done everyday. I would like to know why he said everyday, if your suppose to have rest days.

You can attend a 3 hour class and recieve a personal trainer certificate from some places. Don't put all your stock in personal trainers.

your body needs rest. on off days, do some stretching, not pushups.

He was a trainer at a prohealth gym, who just told me I could do pushups and situps everyday, but as a guest there I didn't get much answered.
Sounds like the consensus here is to just rest. So I'm gonna calm my ass down and not do the pushups. Thanks
Appreciate the replies from all of you.

Well why don't you just try it and find out for yourself...

If it feels like overkill, stop doing it. If it doesn't, keep doing it. Simple.

Either way, it's not going to kill you if you try. I too used to 'overanalyse' things without actually trying it to see if it works. Most of the time I would think that it would be 'too much', but when I actually started doing it I realised I had nothing to worry about.

Pushups shouldn't hurt a bit and in fact may help on your days off.

For me I like working light weights lot of reps in between power days.
