Pushup Help

Hey,

I am not that good at pushups.

I am currently 13 years old and 96 pounds. I can run the mile in 7:30.

I need help on pushups. Any tips on how to improve on them? Any drills or stretches? Any help?

Thanks,
Jedi

Well if your having problems doing full push ups, that just means you need an smaller start. Instead of doing the 'normal' push up where you pivot on your toes, your going to want to try pivoting on your knees. (You'll learn in physics how the verticle force needed to push yourself up is reduced when the angle between your body and the floor increases.) Start out doing those types of pushups until you get the strenght to do the full pushups. Also if you have a bench that's elevated (about a foot or so) you can also use that for pushups. Keep your feet on the ground, put your hands on the bench, and do a push up.

Don't forget to stretch your triceps (back of the arm) and chest.

The best way to improve on pushups is to do them. Practice makes for the best improvment.

he hit the nail on the head.. take his advice! and just do the normal stretches for your arms and chest, nothing fancy..

If all you are doing is push ups, you can do them everyday. It's amazing how doing as many as you can just 1 time per day will help you.

Thanks guys, I got an A on my pushup test!
