Push ups to standing position?

Hmmm...I'm just wondering. I don't know if this is possible and have never seen it done. I like clapping push ups and they're part of my routine. But could someone take those farther and push themselves up from the push up position into standing straight up? It would be kind of cool but would take some crazy strength to be able to do that.

never seen anyone do that. You'd have to be wicked strong and explosive.

I'm 99% sure NBS was joking.. the 1% left is attributed to Decartes and the fact that we might not even be here.

I don't believe that is possible. no matter who you are, the force that one can push against the ground with can never be heavier than the weight of gravity on your body.

Here's a little something that I do and Im sure that it would help improve your health and fitness tone and body.
Here it is:

Dont slow down, just set your mind to it, move forward and in time you'll see yourself in a better shape. Personally, from my own experience, seeing myself toner only gives me more encouragement to keep moving forward.

I actually saw somebody do something like that break dancing on an MTV dance show. It wasn't a pure push-up but the guys knees never touched the ground.

Well gravity has no weight to start with. That and I can do a clapping pushup and thats overcoming the force of gravity at least momentarily. And thats a pretty general statement because i can push the ground with my feet and can get pretty high off the ground despite the force of gravity on my being.

But back on the subject. It would be extremely difficult, and I wont say impossible, because I have seen people do things i would have believed to be so. That being said, the amount of upper body strength required to do something like that would be tough to produce without momentum involved either from kipping or some other acrobatic move preceeding it. the types of athletes that may possible have the required strength would be gymnasts and smaller defensive back like NFL players, but still it would be extremely difficult.

I am not sure if that is possible as that would be an insane amount of upper body strength The most insane push up I know of is the 3 clap pushup!
But not sure on being able to get up to the standing position !!! :D
