For the past few months I have been eating a lot of pumpkin, like A LOT. Also I've been gaining weight steadily since I began eating it.
I've been sticking to my calorie target for losing weight yet still gaining. About half my daily intake is pumpkin, yes I'm addicted!
I always bake it in the oven and even weight it to make sure I calculate the calories right.
All I can think is that it has something to do with the weight from baking it. Seeing as raw vs baked pumpkin is almost the same in calories yet if you start with 2lbs raw pumpkin then bake it, it will weight a bit less than 2lbs because of the water evaporation therefore making it more dense/calorific?
I am completely at a loss here! :ack2:

It clearly isnt agreeing with you at the level that you are eating - so I would aim to eat less of it.

Moderation is often a good idea... Even healthy foods can contain good things that can be dangerous if you have it in excess... I believe that pumpkin contains quite a lot of potassium for instance which could be dangerous if you were to have too much of it... I am not saying that you are necessarily eating it at a dangerous level - I am not an expert and wouldn't know!

You would certainly be better off with a more balanced diet - having a better mix of things...

Maybe it is making your system more sluggish... Are your toilet habits ok? Weight gain that people do not think is down to fat accumulation or muscle build is often down to either water retention or some level of constipation. Adequate water consumption can help both of these things...

Maybe drinking more water would help... That certainly tends to help people who gain weight because they have had too much food containing sodium... I always suggest that people aim to drink at least 1 ounce of water for every 2 pounds that they weigh. I shoot for more if I know that I have had too much sodium...
