how many eggs would you guys recommend after a workout? im currently having 2 omega-3 eggs post workout for protein.. any recommendations?

well, I would skip the yolks post workout since fat slows digestion.

an average medium egg contains about 6g of protein...evenly split between the whites and the yolk.
so 2 eggs is barely 12g of protein and like 5g of fat.

using egg whites only, you'd get 3g per egg, so you'd want about 7 egg whites PWO, possibly more depending on your gender, weight, and goals.

If you must do eggs, take malkore's advice. If you could get some protein powder, that would be better.

Glad that I read this. I thought that the egg whites were 6 total.
I just started drinking ON Isolate shakes post workout - throw it in the blender with a banana or frozen fruit with a little bit of water and some ice. I bought the variety pack to try the different flavors out.

so me having 2 eggs post workout is kinda a waste of time it seems like or eating eggs in general, there seems to be soo little protein in 1 egg, what would you recommend i consume post workout as a source of protein?

here is a link that I use to figure out nutrition info, its really detailed but kinda hard to use at first though.

I normally drink 1 scope of whey protein after the workout. Or you can try to eat a lot of egg white.

I usually take 1 scope of whey for protein too but this week I had eggs for breakfast and I felt kind of odd and I realized that I must have too much protein in my body. Is it O.K. to eat eggs and take 1 scope of protein or should one stop taking whey when eating eggs for breakfast?

read closer...several of us already said "get a protein powder...whey or a whey+casein blend"

and nobody said eggs were a waste of time. We said they digest a little too slowly to be the 'best' post workout protein source.

:ironing:

@oakvillej, i would suggest you read the especially the pre-workout and post-workout section. Eggs are wonderful, but after a workout you need a protein shake.

A great alternative to eggs or protein shakes?

Milk and choco-milk. Not to mention the fact that chocolate milk is ALWAYS f'ing delicious.

I eat 4 egg whites and 1 egg yolk in the morning,
and one scoop Pro Complex Gainer after a workout.
i am 5-9" and weigh 178lbs. I waste no protien, i got it checked and i have no waste protien. So you should be good. But whey isolate is better after a workout, and easier since you don't have to eat like 10 eggs.

Sincerely,
Wilhelm.
