Protien Upsets My Stomach

i really want to start drinking protien shakes in the morning and after my workouts... i do mostly cardio, because losing weight and toning up is my goal- i am a 23 year old female, 5'5", 130lbs- i am pretty in shape, and would like to do something to get rid of that last 5 (stubborn) pounds, and really tone up- but too much protien tends to upset my stomach! are there any options in shakes that could work for me? i am open to all suggestions

I've had the same upset stomach issues if I eat/drink a protein supplement with too much protein per serving. I am about 5'4 and weight 130lbs.
I am a vegetarian so I initially thought the more protein the better to help me loose more weight...but apparently that didnt agree with my insides :(
So now what I do is I try drinking or eating 1/2 the recommended serving size of a protein shake/bar...and see how I feel, then if my stomach is okay I will have the other half. I dont know what the exact numbers are scientifically but you can only digest a certain amount of protein per sitting, so ingesting more than that will just come out the other end (if you know what i mean)
Hope that helps :)

Don't drink them so fast ...

And you might want to try a different protein powder. Some protein powders at the gym have actually made me vomit. Which is highly counterproductive if I'm trying to add protein to my diet ...

What kind do you have?

Also if you're after fat loss, then I would start lifting. Adding lean muscle to your body will not only burn more calories, but you'll get that "toned" look. Otherwise with cardio, you'll still look the same, just with 5 less pounds.

Thank you for the advice! I do mainly cardio (an hour every time i hit the gym- treadmill with a combination of running and walking on a steep incline) but i also use the machines at the gym... i do a lot for my arms (dips and pull ups on a regular basis, also shoulder presses and occassional bicep curls- light weights so i dont bulk up- about 35 lbs) and i also do a lot of abdominals- my main goal is to get a small waist line and get rid of my love handles (they have always been my main problem, but have decreased significantly since i started going to the gym 3-4 times a week with all my cardio). I do A LOT of sit ups and side bends, using a 10 pound weight, and i do my lower back as well... what else do you think i should be doing to tone up? My legs are not a problem/issue- i find running tones them up- my legs have always been pretty toned and slender... any suggestions for toning up a bit more would be great, and of course any protien shake/bar ideas as well! thank you for all your postings, you all really help!

i usually mix it with skim milk, because when i mixed it with water, it was almost unbearable to drink...

I usually mix things like muscle milk or other protein powders with rice milk or soy milk, it makes them lighter and less thick. If I drink milk after a work out my tummy hurts, whereas the rice or soy milk is much easier on the digestive system with about the same flavor when you mix the powder in.

And the brand i use is Designer Whey
