I would do a quick search of the forums through their search feature for either protein shake or creatine...lots of good posts already out there.

No problem with taking protein supplements, but make sure you realize that it is indeed a supplement. It cannot, will not, and should not replace whole foods. It's also not necessary to take other than the convenience of it as far as quick and easy, cheap, etc. PWO is a good time to take it, should you choose to do so.

Creatine, again, is fine. But it's also not going to make major changes, although it can definitely be helpful. If you're going to take it, take 5g per day. You can take it PWO if you like, but you don't have to. There's a chance it will be better absorbed, but as long as you're getting 5g/day, you'll be fine.

I couldn't agree more with Ride_On - so many people are chugging down protein shakes like nobody's business. They are suppose to be SUPPLEMENTS, and should never be used to replace the actual protein source. This is because supplements don't contain the other nutrients (some of which probably haven't even been discovered yet) intrinsic to natural protein sources, along with the maintainance of the digestive tract.

You got it. Sorry, I guess I should specify that. Generally it's just accepted the PWO means post. Had I included both in the answer, I would have just written it out in each way. Future reference, if I don't write it, assume post :)

Well, that's not ENTIRELY true. They do contain a lot of amino acids. But other than that, you are correct.
