Sport protein without supplements

Sport Fitness
Hi All,
This is my first post, after lurking for a few weeks. I've already altered some of my workout routine due to the advice I've found here. That's why I decided to register. So, thanks for all the info.

My question is this. Since I travel constantly, it's impossible for me to carry huge tubs of protein powder around the world with me. I also don't always have access to a blender. How can I get enough lean protein to support my workouts, without making protein shakes? I want to avoid protein bars, because of the sugar.

Obviously meat and nuts are a source, but what else can I turn to, without having to constantly be eating? Thanks.

canned tuna is small and very portable.

And, depending on the length of your trips, perhaps you can just scoop some pro powder in a Tupperware? Get a big water bottle and just shake it - no need for blenders.

That's all I can really think of - sorry it's not much help

Tuna is great. Chicken. Sarah Lee Bagels provide 10g of protein each. A serving of low-fat milk has about 10g of protein. Egg Starts (pre-packaged egg whites) can be cooked in a microwave and are mostly protein.

Thanks Spockafina and Fil. I'm a touring musician, so I'm never gone for less than a couple of weeks. Sometimes I'm gone for months. Usually, I'm living on a tour bus, so I rely on each venue interpreting our rider properly. My singer and I are health nuts, and it's incredible what some of the promoters provide for us after they get the rider. Caramel covered rice cakes? What the H--L is that?
Tuna is a good idea. Throw on some lemon and pepper, and voila!

I hope some other folks chime in here.

certainly good advise for travel!! will have to keep that in mind also...I've just started my regular routine of adding protein powder and am feeling a little green today...I guess my body needs to get use to it...I'm doing the "zone"

peanutbutter.. milk.. cheese.. sour cream.. beef jerky (mmm).. hmm, im stumped for now. but i like spockafina's idea, a little powder ina tupperware container. that way no need to bring the ten pound dog food look alike bag lol..

I day travel during the week for my job and I do as spockfina has suggested. I put protein powder in zip-lock bags and use ProLean replacement meals to get me protein...

peanuts and peanutbutter is a great sorce for protein. I dont like all the protein suppliments because they taste like CRAP (to me that is)! so i try to keep some peanuts on hand.

or try the flavorless protein. "it can't taste like crap, because it doens't taste like anything" ~that should be there slogan.. lol

I tried Designer whey protein, and I do have to say it did taste pretty good. It was low calorie, low sugar yet only 18 grams of protein. Then I went to Natures Best Isopure whey, it was just a little bit more calories, yet 50 grams of protein, it comes in a vanilla flavor and doesnt too bad at all. Its no carbs and no sugar. I dont understand why some of these brands are so high in sugar, or why they have calorie counts that are almost 4 digits.

Peanuts should be used as a source of fat. Unless you're eating over 400-calories-worth, it's not enough protein for a meal.
