Sport Protein value.

Sport Fitness
Hey guys, yea. Me again. Just wondering how you discern how much protein your meat has. I tried using the fancy food search websites (ex:) but I can't figure out how to use them for meat. My question is, how can I figure out how much protein is in my chicken, beef, pork, etc? I wish companies would just label their meat products so I could at least ball park it.

Does cooking change the protein value of meat even if you don't add other things to it? Final question: is their just an easy generalization I can make, like 1oz beef= xg protein?

If you just google something like "amount of protein in steak"...you should eventually come accross a chart which provides all of this information for you. I remember i did this a number of years ago and i don't remember exact numbers but steak and chicken were up around 15-20 grams protein /100g. Salmon and Tuna was about 20 and bacon i think in the lower teens...I'd do a search and find something for you myself but i'm too tired.

Follow Streamline's advice.

Sometimes when I am confused with how much calories is in my meat i just start googling:
" how much protein in baked chicken "
" how much protein in chicken breast"
"how much protein in beef"

You get the point.

Wow, I didn't realize cooking had such an effect on the protein value. Not to mention how different cuts will contain different amounts of protein... this isn't going to be as straight forward as I hoped, is it? Alrighty, time to put on my big boy pants and do a little research i guess. Thanks for the help guys.
