I'm just curious what other people mix their protein powder with.
I use whey powder and I've found that when I mix it with milk or water it clumps up no matter how well I mix it. I assume this is because the pH of milk and water is too close to the isoelectric point of the protein.
I've mixed it with slightly acidic drinks like apple juice and orange juice and found that dissolves rather well, but the taste is kinda differen't although decent. I don't think the acid is strong enough to denature the protein, but I'm just assuming.
The problem is when I drink it before a work out. I usually just mix about 1 scoop (30 grams) of powder with 4-5 oz of water and down it. Its the only method I've found that keeps my stomach settled during a workout. Maybe I just have a weak stomach, but I was wondering what people use during their workout? I can't even fathom drinking it during a workout.
