Protein powder for women??

I know that Whey is good, but for a women, what name brand is best. I use it after a workout(sometimes before) and sometimes to supplement a meal. My boys who work out hard tell me that if I drink the same protein that they drink, I will gain weight, and that I shouldnt drink any being a female, that it will just put weight on me? Are there different types, one that is best for women or can I tell my boys that they are wrong? lol!!! There are so many to choose from. I want almost no sugar in mine, but anyone have a name brand that is highly rated?

your boys are wrong. women use protein just like men do. I'm not sure what to recommend, but make sure you read the labels so you can check the nutrition facts. Alot of protein powders have unnecessary amouns of sugar.

Men and women should both drink whey protein
Try to find one that is around 120 cals 20 grams of protein and lower than 5 grams of fat and carbs

A favorite brand is Optimum Nutrition. Inexpensive and tastes pretty good.

I like Nitrean from It is a blend of whey/casein/egg.

protein is food. eat too much food, you gain weight.

think of protein powder as though it were steak. you just want a good cut (quality brand) cooked the way you like it (tastes good).

Optimum Nutrition
AtLarge Nutrition

those are the brands I stick to.

I'm a woman, and I drink protein shakes. (Optimum Nutrition) - I haven't gotten all bulky or whatever. That's just not true.

Now, if you start taking the weight gainers (beeeef caaaaake!), then you might - but not b/c you are female, but b/c those are loaded with stuff and designed for bulking.

My favorite is how they put all the political humor in there and disguise it as tasteless toilet humor. Matt Stone and Trey Parker are geniuses.

is it a good idea to make a protein shake with protein powder + soya milk??

im gonna go into town on saturday, and im thinking of buying some protein powder

I second that ON 100% Whey Protein. It is so much better than the other garbage out there. I used to buy GNC brand, but it would go bad after a week of use. I don't recommend GNC. The stuff is expensive, and it is not good.

I've used trueprotein.com before and was happy with the results. You can make your own custom blended powder so you know exactly what's in it and what the nutrition breakdown is.
