protein powder before bed

i tried searching this but couldnt find what i was looking for, but i was wondering how u guys felt about this.

can/should u take a protein powder before u go to sleep? ive heard u should but am not sure. also, i was wondering when it would be best to have a shake on ur off days, that is if u should have them at all on ur off days.

and i thought i read a post on here (coulda been somewhere else) not too long ago, i couldnt find it again, saying when the best time would be to have a shake before u eat or after (like, waiting so many minutes to have a shake after u eat), b/c of the amino acid spike or something along those lines (trying to remember what it said)? can u guys offer some perspective on this? thanks.

that entire last sentence doesn't even make sense. a protein shake IS FOOD...its EATING. you're totally confusing taking a shake as your post workout meal and thinking its a post eating meal from the way that sentence reads.

and try searching harder. we regularly tell people that a bedtime shake isn't the best...it digests too fast. cottage cheese is a much better bedtime protein.

Casein is a good protein to eat before bedtime, you can find it as proteinpowder or in milkproducts(~80/20 casein/whey). Casein is good in that way that its slow and works anti-catabolic, it will last pretty much through the whole night for you. A regular wheyshake is no good before bed, its anabolic effect is better suited for quickly breaking your catabolic state in the morning.

no sh*t it doesnt make sense malkore, i dont remember word for word what the post said. i was TRYING to remember what it said. and no, im not getting a shake and meal confused with one another, there was something about taking a shake a few minutes AFTER ur meal if ur going to have food. try searching harder? sorry, if i cant find it, im gonna ask. im tired of ur crass, smartass comments and hiding behind that sig of urs so u sound like ur just helping. i was looking for some serious answers without any lowbrow remarks. id appreciate it if u were more understanding. thanks.

So, even you don't know wtf you were saying there?

I'm sorry, but if you come in with an incomprehensible question, expect a smarmy comment from me.

But since you don't want my help I won't bother you any further. Best of luck in your fitness goals.
