Sport protein intake question

I'm pretty new to weight lifting and don't know a whole lot about it, just the basics like that it tears your muscles and protein pretty much fills in those gaps and creates new muscles. But my question is, is it best to take my protein shake immediately after my workout routine?

Yes. It is best taken after soon after your workout.
 
I do both pre/post-workout, but read this article:



"Since exercise increases bloodflow to your working tissues, drinking a carbohydrate-protein mixture before your workout may lead to greater uptake of the amino acids in your muscles," says Kevin Tipton, Ph.D., an exercise and nutrition researcher at the University of Texas in Galveston.
