IMO, really the only way is to plan ahead. know what you're eating today, tomorrow, the next day, so forth and so on.
personaly, i believe in keeping meals as simple as possible. ppl sometimes come up with these extravagant meal plans thats difficult to stick with and BIG SURPRISE, they dont stick with it.
its a good idea to cook up some chicken breasts, steaks, turkey burgers, fish on the weekends and just heat them up when needed. on the go items like pop top cans of tuna, chicken and salmon dont need refrigeration. if you can keep a cooler on hand with some ice packs to keep foods cold will give you more choices like eggs, cottage cheese and sandwiches.
protein bars can help out. some ppl make their own. also beef jerky provides a good dose of protein. and dont forget protein shakes.
It's hard to find high quality beef jerky. It's mostly Grade F meat (hehe), and it's full of fat, salt and preservatives. If you know of anywhere you can get high quality dried meat, let me know!
Also... poptop cans of chicken? I've never heard of that before. It sounds innovative, but I've never seen it on the Canadian market.
some kind of way some ppl i know make their own jerky. i dont exactly know how but i'm sure i could find out if needed.
yea, i didnt know about chicken in a can also till somebody hipped me to it. and it actually took more than one trip to the grocery store for me to find it. over here its in the same section as the tuna and the salmon.
i havent gotten built up the guts to try the salmon yet. i use to do 14 cans of tuna each week, 2 cans of day. but with the news about the mercury, i thought i'd better add some variety.
Yeah, that's a concern of mine too. According to the USDA's website (I think it was the USDA), they had a chart about safe consumption levels. For my weight, I can eat only about a can a week.
