Protein drinks and taste

So I’ve been using protein powder to bump up my protein intake. Getting a little old now, I only have vanilla. Put a few shots off coffee in it, I’m still making up my mind if I like the taste. I think it might be a good change evert now and then.

espresso in a protein shake? Wow, that sounds like it'd be kinda odd tasting. Does it taste nice or do you just chug it back for the protein & caffine content?

lol, I'm still making up my mind. I took my time with it. I think a chug would have me blowing chunks.

I like the idea of the bonus caffeine, sort of like an Ephedra boost with protein.

I'll try it again today; maybe I'll add more coffee this time.

Try chocolate protein, and some instant coffee powder. it'll taste like a cold mocha cappucino.

works well with chocolate MRP's too.

I don't use this brand of powder, but their website has some pretty tasty protein powder concoctions you could give a whirl...

or not :p

I just use Sam's club Members mark brand protein in the 5 lb bag and it tastes fine
as well most protein powders if mixed with a good blender so you don't get chunks of protein. ( that is usually what makes it taste horrible) Here is the blender i use and it is great hamilton beach.com/dual-wave-blenders-dual-wave-versatile-blender-silver.Hamilton]Hamilton]Hamilton Beach Beach Beach: Dual Wave™ Versatile Blender (Silver)

I bought it at walmart for $59.00 a few months ago. You can also win it at Dave and busters with a certain number of tickets.

My protein tastes fine. Just working through a 5 lb bag of vanilla gets boring when you are having 2-3 drinks with double scoops a day. I’ve even put two scoops into a bowl of soup just to skip the drink for that meal. It wasn’t bad.

lol, I have been taking Isopure chocolate protein powder with Glutamine peptides powder and instead of water, I add 1/2 cup coffee, 1/2 cup lactose fat free milk (I'm lactose intolerant), tsp of unsweetened cocoa powder, and a tsp of instant espresso!

makes for a tasty treat :D

I try to get creative too. I am not 'old' but I am a vanilla person

lol, I meant drinking just the vanilla is getting old to me. Not that I'm old and toothless......

But I guess to some I am old (40) Other than a few changes, I feel the same as when I was in my 20s

sounds good

whey, banana, frozen strawberries, and milk
it can sometimes taste like something you'd buy at one of those expensive smoothie shops

I can say this... that for the last 6 years I have tried just about every protein powder, shake, nugget, cookie (yes.. they exist) and any other form of protein that's available.

Here' what I like:

Powders
Nectar by Syntrax - 23g protein per scoop & 100 calories. Can be blended with water (if you get the fruit flavored ones) or milk for the traditional choco/vanilla

Inspire - 30g protein per scoop and 123 calories. Again with water or milk depending on flavor. I prefer the pomegranate razz sangria flavor, but i hear the peanut butter cookie flavor is da bomb too :)

Body Fortress Super Advantage Whey - 52g protein per 2 scoops, 210 calories, 3g sugar, 4g total fat. Flavor - Cookies n Cream. This is a beaut! and you can get this at Walmart on the cheap ;)

PURE - (unflavored) - 12g protein per scoop & 100 calories. This one's nice because you can add it to anything from cereal to soup

RTDs
BELIEVE Protein Drink - 30g protein per bottle & 120 calories - also high in B vitamins (esp B12) - comes in a few good flavors

EAS AdvantEdge - 17g protein per serving & 110 calories - i prefer Cafe' Caramel

Foods
Supreme Protein Bars - 15g per bar - rocky road is delish - 200 cal, 9g fat, total carb 17g

These are some of the supplements I have used and will continue to use due to being a bariatric patient. My body has a higher than normal malabsorption rate so my protein intake has to be supp'd and at the same time limit caloric and sugar intake. A complicated dance indeed.

So... if you're looking for something different... here ya go.. and as an added bonus... they are really good!!
