Sport Proper nutrition for my activity level

Sport Fitness
Hi Everyone,

I am brand new to this forum and I have an issue that I want to get some insight on.

Here are a few stats. I am 6'5" tall, 235 lbs, 27 years old, 26 bmi, would like to lose 20 lbs of fat.

Here is my problem...I KNOW I am not eating enough to burn any fat. My job consists of briskly walking about 8-9 miles over about 5 hours a day, 6 days per week. Doing a few BMR calculators I have come to a conclusion that I need to eat over 4000 to maintain my weight. The problem is, I can't even get close to eating 2500 calories a day, mainly because I don't have the budget to buy that much food. Right now this is my diet:

meal 1: Slimfast shake
2 eggs

meal 2: handfull of peanuts
granola bar

meal 3: ham sandwich on wheat with light mayo

meal 4: pb&j sandwich on wheat
string cheese

meal 5: 2 grilled chicken breasts
corn

So, believe you me, with this diet my body is definitely in starvation mode which I know if why I am not losing any weight. My main question is, with my current financial situation, I have actually considered getting weight gainer to fill in the blanks to healthily lose weight. I know this probably sounds crazy, but I don't know what else to do. If anyone can tell me the pros and cons of this idea or anything to help me out with my nutrition to lose weight, I would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks!

Ryan

Add some rice, potatos, good quality oils to your meals if your certain you want to eat more to lose weight.

But to be honest- and please correct me if you see otherwise, I do not really understand the principal of the starvation mode here- if so then why do anorexic people eat so little and then continue to lose weight to an unhealthy level? though I am not advocating anorexia, just be careful of adding in extra calories in order to lose weight- its harder to lose weight then gain it for most of us!
