I started this diet on Wednesday...I'm real new to dieting. The first day I chowed down 4800+ calories. OUCH. I just wanted to see how much I was actually taking in. Thursday I took in 1711 calories. ...better. I will begin adding exercises next week. Being accountable helps. I work in an MI Nursing home for the mentally ill as a case manager so stress can be high at times. I get weighed weekly by staff so someone else knows what I'm weighing...can't cheat. I also have office staff cue me when I'm about to feed my face with something "junky". I plan to reach my goal by Dec. 31, '06.

welcome margene! the first step is being accountable and admitting you need to lose weight so your definately starting off on the right foot! i used to work in a nursing home too on an alzheimer's unit so i understand the stress you go through!

Thanks for the support. It's nice that you understand my stress...helps me to realize that i'm not imagining the stress.

I have had many people at work telling me that I look just fine. These same people are being very supportive since I have asked for their assistance in my sincere effort to loose the weight. I hear "you can do it" and "I'm happy to help you."

I have been writing down everything I eat after I eat it and am very honest about every bite. Tonight my husband asks me if I'm not supposto be checking the calories before I eat it. The answer, of course, is yes. We sure got a good laugh out of my error though. (He laughs with me not at me which really helps)

(3/24/06)+1603 calorie count today-184 Burned =+1419 calorie difference.

Congradulations on loosing 70 pounds!!! You are motivating.

:( It's early morning and now that time of the month...ughhhhhhhh. no wonder I feel so bloted. Lots of tea today and a hot bath is in order.

Hi Margene. Welcome to the forum! I think you weight loss goal and the timeframe you set for yourself are very reasonable. I think you have a good idea to first focus on what your eating (and the calories) and then work on the exercise. Taking each step one by one really does make the transition easier, and the whole weight loss thing doesn't feel so overwhelming.

Look forward to reading your journal. Good luck achieving your goals! I know you will find tons of support and movtivation from all the wonderful people here! :)

 1265 calories for today. I'm getting better at adding activities. It's amazing all the things I get credit for...ie self care. I would do that anyway but it's cool that it counts.

Wonderwoman: I had a day today. I went in to work. They had "Family Day" today and it was so relaxing for a change.

Fluff: thanks for the Support. Letting me know you will be reading my journal will help to remind me to write there. Happy reading.

Keep smiling!!:)

:) I used up more calories than I took in yesterday. Now I think I'm getting it. Also, I got some nice fat free snacks put on my desk yesterday when I got into work. What a nice suprise! People can be so supportive. That support has such a motivation effect.

sounds like your doing really good margene! but one thing, if you want to post your progress each day, we have a special "diary" section on this site for that. you can start your very own personal thread in that section and update us each day on your progress. :) this section here is for newcomers who have just joined and want to introduce themselves. here is the link to the diary section of this weight loss forum:
