Problems Losing Weight

I'm 42, somewhat overweight, and I live in Peru. I don't know exactly how much I weigh, but I have a gut. My pants size at 25 was 29" but now it's 32" and I'm starting to have difficulty closing the jeans.

There are several major challenges. The first one is that I don't sleep enough. I tend to get 4-5 hours of sleep a night. I work from 6:30 AM to 10:30 PM and it's about 45 minutes to and from work. I'm very tired. I manage this tiredness with caffeine, usually from Inka Kola, Coca Cola, etc. I don't drink coffee. Sometimes I buy energy drinks such as Red Bull or a Peruvian brand called Volt. They're pretty sugary too and more expensive.

I thought that maybe I could just start doing more exercise. I walk a lot, but I got some running shoes and some shorts and figured that now that it's approaching summer, I could get more exercise. However, the first time I tried it, I had an asthma attack. It was just sprinting to catch the bus, but when I got on the bus I couldn't breathe, and I started to panic, making the situation worse.

I got an inhaler (Salbutamol), but I haven't noticed any improvement. Recently my wife started using a mosquito repellant (Vape, plug-in) and that provoked a serious asthma attack so now I'm taking prednisone 50 mg po qd. It helps a lot, but I don't want to get on a long-term prednisone usage. Plus, I'm self-medicating, and I can't be 100% sure that I know what I'm doing. I bought 10 pills, so I plan to take 9 and then cut the last one in half to wean myself off of it.

I've also noticed a good loss of flexibility. I have trouble tying my own shoes now, but I grunt and struggle and insist on doing it on my own. Perhaps I should take up yoga, but I don't know any places where I could do so. I've also tried magnesium supplementation to try to alleviate the asthma problem, but I haven't noticed much effect from otc pills. I got a magnesium oil spray, but it makes my skin itch like crazy so I've stopped using it.

Any tips?

Garcinia Cambogia: Safe for Weight Loss?
Garcinia cambogia, a tropical fruit also known as the Malabar tamarind, is a popular weight-loss supplement. People say it blocks your body's ability to make fat and it puts the brakes on your appetite. It could help keep blood sugar and cholesterol levels in check, too. You'll find it in bottles on the shelf at the store as well as mixed with other ingredients in diet products.
Thanks for your response. However, after looking at http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3010674/ I feel that there is no reason to believe that the supplement you recommend is:

A) effective, or
B) safe for asthma sufferers.

Hi Dumoti.
Losing weight can be incredibly challenging, but nothing is impossible when you put your mind to it and believe in your success. One of the reasons why people often fail at weight loss is that they don't set realistic goals. The only solution to the eternal dilemma of how to lose weight is diet and exercise. The key to succeeding at weight loss in the long term is changing your entire lifestyle, but it's not as hard as it sounds.

Making gradual changes and setting realistic goals can help you finally lose weight, get healthy and feel great about your body.

Hey there.

I feel your pain. Started 2015 obese and I am ending it with a bang.

No matter what people say, it's all about diet and not exercise or drugs.

What worked for me was the Paleo diet and I share my experiences on my blog so that my audience don't make the same mistakes that I made.

Ask me anything And I will be happy to help

I completely agree with all of you. I've been overweight since high school and have struggled with trying to get the motivation to work out and lose the weight but it's been hard. I've been looking into a healthy dietary supplement to try and lose the weight or at least suppress my appetite, has anyone tried any?

I am an IT guy and can understand your working difficulty.
But try to adopt healthy life style like try to use low fat products which contains artificial sugar, don't give up on meals eat them after some interval.
