Cohen's Lifestyle Problem with breakfasts

Hello everyone,
My name is Lily and I have just joined this forum today.
I have enrolled with Cohen's and am planning to start the day after Christmas.
It is great to see this forum, with a dedicated section for Cohen's devotees. I have enjoyed reading the threads over the last few days.

My question is regarding breakfasts, as I am not sure how I am going to handle them. The problem is, I do not like yogurt. An omelette sounds yummy to me, but being realistic, I just don't have time to cook in the mornings. It is always a struggle to get my eldest daughter (in her first year of Primary school) to school on time as it is, when I also have a toddler to get dressed/breakfasted etc as well. Usually I skip breakfast, or have a quickly made piece of toast.

It is obvioulsy important for me to eat my Cohen's breakfast, so can anyone suggest some breakfasts that are super quick to prepare, and that don't involve yogurt?

Is my only option to cook up some meat/veggies the night before?

Please no suggestion to get up even earlier than I do, as my toddler always hears me and gets up at the same time.

I'd appreciate any advice you can offer me.

Thanks. Looking forward to spending more time here with you all.

:)
Lily

Thanks Dreamer,
Great advice. I especially like the sound of that zucchini slice egg recipe - YUM!
Thanks so much,

If I am going to have egg, I often just scramble egg with some tomato and mushroom and some herbs and cook it in the microwave. doesnt' taste as nice as cooking it properly, but its quick. Same with cheese - tomato with cheese melted in the microwave.
But don't close off the option of yoghurt either. I didn't like it to begin with, but I changed brands and now I have it most mornings with fruit.
I use the Vaalia natural yoghurt most of the time, with either kiwi fruit, apple or mango. I dont use sweeteners, but I find the fruit makes it sweet enough. If I run out of Vaalia, I use Jalna, which is OK, but not quite as nice. But some of the other brands are truly awful!!!! I just don't bother trying any others now!
Hope that helps and good luck on the journey

Hey there

I have yogurt for breaky everyday cause it's quick i don't have to think about it but i add a splash of fanta zero to it and i find it wuite nice, before trying that i used to squeeze the juice from one orange into the yogurt and thats yummo too, then you can still eat the remaining orange later on in them day.

I have been thinking about trying some egg and zuchini muffins making each portion seperately then after there baked stick them in the freezer that way you could get one out the night before and quickly zap it in the microwave in the morning, i think the 1 egg , zuchini, spring onion, and perhaps some fresh herbs and a dash of salt and pepper and yumm well i'm going to experiment later so i'll let u know how they go.

Good luck with the programm and the silly season

Thanks for your replies - great ideas there.

Heavenlylamb - I'll try the Vaalia. Thanks for the suggestion and your good wishes.

Di78 - I would never have thought to add soft drink to yoghurt. I'll give it a go. Thanks! Good luck with the muffins. Please let me know how you go.

Hi Pumpkins

I can't stand yoghurt but try this cos you can't taste the yoghurt flavour and it is just like smoothie.

Yoghurt (allowance)
1/2 mango
1/4 cup Sprite Zero
Ice cubes

Bliz it in a blender for about a minute and pour into a glass and drink. I have this every morning and find it really quick and easy to prepare.

I used to dry reach at the smell and taste of yoghurt so if I can enjoy this hopefully you can too.

i crush one tablet of sugarine sweetner, add a splosh of sprite zero and then my yoghurt, mix it all up together, YUMMO and works well with all brands of natural yoghurt. if you add more sprite zero you can then consume it quickly like a drink if so desired. you can also pre mix and put each serve in a container/glass in the fridge the night before.
i have taken these containers to hotels and overnight functions. it makes sure i have breaky and don't deviate due to being hungry (or go near the Buffet or get room service!!!)

Thank you ThinkingThin and Brieziel,
Great ideas. You'll have me eating yoghurt yet!
Thanks so much,
:)

Hi there

If you are anything like me no amount of diet fanta or putting the stuff in a blender with mango would get me to eat yoghurt. I can't stand the smell of it - everyday I have - 1/2 tomato and mushroom to make up allowence- I throw this and an egg in the wok and make what I suppose you could call an omlete. If time is a factor you could weigh your veg the night before, but honestly it doen't take that long (and I am usually doing other stuff while it cooks)

Don't forget you deserve 5 minutes of a morning to make sure you are off to a good start. Consider this - if that is what you were told your child had to eat each day for a medical reason - would you find the time to do it?? You are a mum and we never put ourselves first, but I have decided that I have to because my kids will thank me for it in the long run.

Best of luck if you decide to try the yoghurt -I have found these forums are keeping me going - and once you are past the first week - it does get easier.

:D

The mango smoothy thing is one of the best and easiest. I like most of you have now switched to Vaalia natural yoghurt. I like this on it's own and it makes a great quick breakfast. If I am making a smoothie I still find the Jalna the best as the other seems too creamy or rich or something and doesn't give the smoothie the right flavour. I also read a recipe for an omlet that was made in a zip lock bag. All the ingredients go in there and you simply shake, refrigerate and microwave in the morning.

All the best

I have this egg cooker thing that looks like a little space ship that my hubby bought me for my birthday a few year (probably because at that time i couldn't even boil an egg). Well I just toss my egg in that and switch it on and the cooker does the rest. Well I do have to peel it then i pop it in this egg slicer thing and pop it on some ryvita with half a tomato which is around my allowance. It is really quick and easy!

Thank you Losing, Allana and BrightYellow,
I do appreciate you taking the time to post your useful advice.
Thanks!
