I've seen on here that it isn't good to lift on an empty stomach. I workout first thing in the morning before eating. This is fine for HIIT but what abut on the days I lift?
I have no problems energy wise getting through my workouts but would I see any added benefit if I ate before lifting?
 
you'd see added lean muscle mass. first thing in the morning, you're in a catabolic state from fasting all night.

many nutrition/fitness guru's say not to EVER work out, not even cardio, on an empty stomach. that the slight increase in fat loss isn't worth the lean muscle loss that also occurs.

I would at least have a whey shake in the morning, 20 mins before you exercise. a starchy carb wouldn't be bad either...a tiny bowl of cereal, oatmeal, or a half potato.
