I'm watching America's Funniest Videos right now and they just showed a clip of something that I see far too often; somebody getting tricked into thinking they have won the lottery.
If you don't know what I'm talking about, I'll explain...
Somebody scratches off a lottery ticket and sees that they have won $10,000 (for example). That person, thinking that they have just really won $10,000, starts screaming at the top of their lungs and jumping in the air with excitement. They also start saying things like "My financial worries or over!!!" Or, "Now I can pay off my credit card bills!!!" You can physically see the pure happiness and instant release of financial stress in their face and in their eyes.
After they have spent a few minutes screaming at the top of their lungs in sheer happiness, someone tells them that the ticket is fake and that they didn't just win $10,000. Everybody starts laughing hysterically...except for the person holding the ticket.
Once it's announced that the ticket is fake and everybody starts laughing, the person that thought they just won the lottery gets an instant rush of pure anger and heartbreak on their face and it's obvious to everyone. Yet, people keep laughing as if it's hilarious. Well, I don't think it's hilarious at all.
I mean, practical jokes can be funny, but not when you completely fuck around and destroy somebody's emotions.
If you had a huge crush on somebody and they came up to you, proclaiming how they thought you were perfect in every way, making you believe that they wanted to be with you, but then they were like, "HAHAHAHA, I'm just kidding!!!"...would you laugh? Fuck no!!! You'd be heartbroken as fuck and probably cry.
So, what I'm trying to say is that I don't think it's very funny when people do that. And, if anybody ever does that to me, I'm going to set you on fire and roast marshmallows on you.
