Sport power foods

I overheard some guys at the gym talking about the following foods and was wondering what your input on them is pertatining to gaining muscle mass. i.e. If it is indeed good to eat them and if so when to eat them??

1)sweet potatoes
2)bananas
3)spinach
4)carrots
 
They are all great foods, yes, but you won't magically be Hulk by eating them. Gaining muscle is a combination of lifting heavy and eating in a surplus.
 
I eat spinach and carrots almost everyday.

Also look into almonds, blueberries, raspberries. Eat those almost everyday too

spinach is loaded with vitamin A and Folate
Carrots are packed with vitamin A
Berries packed with antioxidants
Almonds loaded with unsaturated fats.
 
Sure those are all good foods but its how you breakdown your pro/carbs/fats at each meal, combined with a smart training approach, is what is going to be your deciding progress factor.

Also, always remember there is a big difference between healthy foods and foods that pertain to your goal.
 
Did you ever wonder why Popeye and Bluto/Brutus always fought over who could possibly be the ugliest woman in the world?

...and yeah, those are all great, healthy foods, but aren't going to magically blow you up. Nothing will do that (nothing I'm willing to take anyway)
