power exercises..higher reps?

i was wondering if i could replace my normal bent over barbell rows with pendlay rows, even for the higher rep protocals like 3x15 and 4x8.
i dont see why not, im just making sure.
it will still help improve strength, correct?

same with push press--its ok to do push press for higher reps like 3x8 and higher right? to optimize strength gains?

what about box squats?

i ask because i know that for power cleans and snatch its better to keep reps under 5 for maximal gains.

thankyou!

yeah, you can do pendlays and push presses for higher reps.. I dunno if I'd do 12 reps on pendlays, but it's all about personal preference.

There is no reason why one cannot do 12 or 15 reps but you cannot call it training for strength. See as an example

If I were you PB I would do something like Defrancos/Westside Barbell where you have a speed day and a max effort day. Its about activating different types of muscle fibres. There is no hard and fast rule that for pendlay rows you do many reps. Pendaly rows are performed incorrectly by many people and there is no guarantee that your form will be strict during those 15 reps if you are using high weight.

thanks, my main goal is to build muscle/gain strength, so i was just wondering if it would be ok for a bit higher reps. i agree...15 is probably pushing it. il probably stay below 10 with pendlay and push presses. i just wanted to change it up : ]

thanks guys!

to develop into a well rounded athlete, one needs to train at a variety of bar speeds to increase high threshold motor units, which will make you
A. the strongest
B. the biggest

I pulled this from another site. So bar speeds, reps, sets, it doesn't matter. Do them all.

I tried Pendlay rows yesterday in the gym after reading this, pretty cool, it took a lot of effort to keep my form correct though as I kept wanting to lift my back a little

Hmmm i don't even know what Pendlay Rows are....

Will look them up now.
