Post work-out/Pre work-out

Is there anything that I can drink, eat, take before a work out that will give me the best benefit from that day's workout? What are post work out things I can drink, eat or take that will help with muscle recovery, etc?
 
eating properly for your nutritional needs, day in/day out, is what you can do to get the most benefit from every workout.

there is no magic pill, drink or shake. Just hard work and proper nutrition.
