Sport Possibly about to ask a stupid question

Sport Fitness
When I make breakfast I use whole eggs(rare, I usually make oatmeal), when I eat out I get egg whites and from what I've read around here, people prefer egg whites for reasons I'm not going to get into. Now depending on the answer, this may be a stupid question but do supermarkets sell egg whites? How are they packaged? I don't want to be wasteful and throw out the yolk just to get the white but if I can purchase just this, I'd eat a lot more eggs for breakfast.

Actually yes, they sell egg whites in a carton (kind of like milk)...which you could just pour onto a skillet. Kind of different, but tastes the same

You can get the egg whites in a carton. A lot easier than cracking egg whites every morning.

ive tried a few different brands of egg whites and they all taste pretty much the same..egg beaters is probably the most common..they have different kinds too like egg white with pepper in it but i just get the regular kind and add whatever i want

Yep, I get my egg whites from a carton. My parents were mad I kept throwing out the yoke. It does look realy weird when you pour it, but it tastes the same just about.

nice, thanks for the info, imma head out and buy a carton or two tomorrow. I've haven't been getting enough calories in the morning eating just oatmeal and fruit.I tried to avoid eating eggs because of the yolk but now everything is falling in place. Are egg whites any good for eating before bed instead of a casein protein shake?

So today I hit the supermarket and went to the dairy section. I couldn't find any cartons that said egg whites on it. I did buy a 1 qt carton of pasteurized liquid egg, on the back the ingredient says: Egg whites(99%), Less than 1% water, color (includes beta carotene), xanthan gum, salt, guar gum. I figure this was as close as I'm gonna get, I just opened up the carton and inside the liquid is yellow like regular beated eggs. Did I fudge it up?

I buy a brand (it's with the eggs, not in the dairy section) called Pure Whites (I think). It's 100% egg whites, and doesn't have the nifty little yellow coloring or any other additives. I like it a lot better, b/c Egg Beaters and the like have a flavor I can detect, which I assume is from the yellow coloring.

If you can't get your hands on the pre-packaged whites, and have to put up with the whole eggs, here are some ideas:

If you've got a pet, there's your "trash can" for the yolks.

If you wanna go through the trouble, I guess you could give em to the homeless on your way to work...

Or hey, you could also save the yolks and make a sponge cake every week...treat your neighbors to somethin nice.
