A few months back I read an article in Men's Health that was about "Good snacks gone bad"... basically it took snacks like beef jerkey, coconut, etc. and explained why they are better than previously thought. One of the snacks it had listed was pork rinds...
Now granted, pork rinds are deep fried skin, but i read some nutrition facts about them, and i was quite surprised.
1 serving of seasoned pork rinds (42g) contains:
198 calories
9 grams fat (supposedly 43% is unsaturated, most of that is oleic, another 13% is stearic acid)
0 carbs
30 grams protein
I'm by no means a nutritionist and i'm not suggesting pork rinds as a healthy snack, I am actually just curious if there is something i'm missing?? In almost every other case, you're supposed to avoid fried foods, and the skin.
