I bought orville redenbacher (sp?) smart pop kettle korn at the grocery store tonight. It says it only has 15 calories per serving, and 2 servings per bag. Can this be true? I love popcorn, but I always thought it wasn't good for you. I figure it must be true, but wow, I'm just surprised. Is it a good thing to have as a snack? Any reason why I shouldn't?

You sure you're reading the label right? The nutritional info posted on Amazon (which is also hard to read) says 2 Tbl unpopped is 120 calories, and 1 C popped is 20 calories.

I eat one of the brands of 94% fat free popcorn, and a full-size bag (not a 100-calorie bag) theoretically makes 12 cups popped. In reality, it fills a 9 cup bowl, because my microwave is aging and I get a lot of unpopped kernels. Those 9 cups are 195 calories.

Personally, I like popcorn as a snack. Movie-theater popcorn or the extra-butter microwave varieties, not so much. But any of the light butter varieties work for me.

i'll just write what it says because I don't understand it. serving size: 3 tbsp unpopped (makes about 7.5 cups popped). servings per bag: about 2. amount per serving: 3 tbsp unpopped= 130 calories, 1 cup popped= 15 calories.

hehe... i just had to say... we just had twin boy goats pop outta their momma a couple of weeks ago... and we named them orville and redenbacher!!!

So 15C popped, more or less. Big bag. @ 15 calories per cup, that's about 225 calories per bag, if all the kernels pop.
