Totally rewritten!

Hey guys, if you hadn't noticed by now. Its me "the all knowing" (Silent).

Alright, Its decided and we will be going along with these "pop in quizes".

Its very simple, Owners of a journal will be presented with a question,true/false, asked to give an explanation and so on. The owner of the journal will then be given first chance to give her/her answer publicly by placing it directly into their journal. Members of this forum who do not own the journal may PM myself with what they believe the correct answer to be. After the journals owner has given their answer. I will state rather it is correct or not and then give the correct answer. I will also state the names of those who PMed me the answer correctly. Those who PMed an answer who were incorrect, will NOT have their name publicly announced. The owner of the journal can not avoid this because they direct their answer directly into the public journal. A record of all questions/answers will be kept for future review.

Sounds fun?

Some rules and info (subject to change)

Do NOT pm the journals owner the answer.

Do NOT cheat. No Google or any other means of searching for an answer are allowed. Any answer given I believe to have come from means of cheating will not be credited or rewarded. First offense will result in a one week suspension from the "quiz games".

Online journals are fine however remember to please list any journal you used to form your answer as a source.

If you are not the journals owner do NOT input your answer directly into the journal.

Do NOT correct the journals owner if you believe them to be wrong.

If you believe myself to be wrong please pm with evidence supporting your belief and I will act accordingly to the situation.

You do not have to be sure of an answer. Use your common sense. This is not something to prove who's smart and who's not. Rather, think of it as a possibly "educational" game.

If you do not wish to answer a question please feel free to state so. At this point you can suggest you wish I move this question to. NOTE, regardless of rather you choose to answer it or not. It will count as your ONE quiz a day(read below).

I'll try to give questions based on your own knowledge. Meaning I won't ask someone who I consider to be a n00b to explain "the Cori cycle".

If you have a possible question for an OP. Please PM me along with the answer if you have it. If I use It I will be sure to list you as the person who came up with the question and so on.

Only one quiz per journal a day!

Rules/info end

I'm not sure how often I'll do this. As well if anyone has suggestions as to how this should be written, and or, new rules, suggestions and so on to add to it Please state so.

Also, later on I would like to acquire more people to help do this Depending on this "programs" success.

Sounds like a good way to show how little I actually know.. I'm all for! :D

I have a feeling I'm going to do very badly at this. The Cori cycle?!?
It'll probably get a few more people reading the journals so I'm for it

Why the new name?

the cory cycle is what happenes to get rid of lactate? Gosh, things would have been so easier if my biology text book last year was in English.

Sounds good as long as you ask me easy questions like "do you tone with low weight high reps?" haha.

Actually it sounds pretty fun. Good way to learn something. I always tihnk you know, what if I'm on a game show and they ask me something like "what chain of muscles do deadlifts work?" "posterior chain!" or, what is another name for the "biceps femoris"? "hamstrings". I could win big money, and I of course woudln't forget to send a little something to whoever told me.

BTW, if my answers to any of those above questions I mentioned are wrong. Then I'm highly embarrassed. But correct me.

sounds cool.

mmm the gud ol cori system. Lactate when produced can do two things, the cori cycle or inta/inter muscular shuttling. The cori cycles is where the lactate produced in the muscle is transported to the liver to be reversed so to speak back to glucose. So contrary to popular belief, the myth that lactate is bad for you is totally wrong.

Matt is basically right. The cori cycle is basically a specialized process in which lactate is "recycled" through the liver into Pyruvate than into glucose or glycogen through gluconeogenesis(I really don't like this word).

I suppose it would be wise to mention that as matt says "inta/inter muscular shuttling". Basically, Lactate is "shuttled" among muscle fibers for "conversion" to Pyruvate than to Acetyl-coa. From here, Acetyl-coa (formally pyruvate) can enter the citric acid cycle. Although, lets not get ahead of ourselves ;).

As Matt said, the general view on lactate is wrong. It should not be viewed as something necessarily "bad". If it wasn't for lactate accumulation sustained high intensity sprints for example, would not be possible.

Alright, the general view seems to be for it so well start it off today.

UPDATES!

Overview has been completely rewritten along with new rules!

Remember to be checking active journals for quizzes! I will not list where/when I have inserted a "question" except for in the journal specifically. At a later time this may change.

If you want I could put together some questions for you that you can use when you can't think of any more yourself. all questions must be "true/false questions" ? It can't be for example:
"Which of these lie deepest: Rectus abdominus, Obliques, transverse abdominus"?

Yeah man, second to last rule from the bottom.
If you have a possible question for an OP. Please PM me along with the answer if you have it. If I use It I will be sure to list you as the person who came up with the question and so on.

Whatever form of question you want. Just make sure you supply the answer (if you have it) ;) lol. If you have any one "special" you would like a question to go to just say so and it will go there way.

Lmao No, If you have a question you would like asked and you would like that specific question to go to someone specifically then I'll give them that specific question.
Comprehend?
