poor workout

Ever have one of those workouts where a couple hours later you think "I could have put more into it, could have lifted heavier, more intense, etc." ?

Since I rejoined the gym this year, no, but before, yes. I've just got a whole new outlook on going to the gym now. I can't get myself to leave until I've got nothing left in the tank. I bust my ass like I didn't think I could, and its showing.

Yes, absolutely. No matter how hard i workout i always feel as though i could've put more in. I do work very hard but i'm never 100% satisfied

Putting 100% effort in every workout is the fastest way to overtraining.

Let me guess, you have one of those 'toned' bodies don't you? lol

100% effort doesn't lead to over training if you have proper nutrition and training. I've never overtrained and I put in 100% every session

This simply isnt true. I must be an "overtrained old man then" :)

One should put forth there best effort. "one" of the keys to prevent over training, is rest in between workouts.

Diet also play a key role in recovery. We ought to be "Busten it" in the gym when training..........ROCK ON!

But allow rest and recuperation........in between.

Answering the question, yea i feel most times i could of worked more intense/lifted heavier weight etc. I go with a couple of mates and they find it hard to get me out of the gym! Theyll be ready to leave after roughly a hour whilst i still feel iv got another half hour left in me so thats why i feel like that i had a poorer workout.
But in reality i no i dont have poor workouts or else i wouldnt be seeing results :D

Oddly enough I had one of those today, I lifted less than I possibly could but I don't think that means I had a bad workout, it just shows I've progressed to a point where I can do more next time. In other works I try to keep my eyes on the big picture and not just that session

If you look closely on how human fysiology works on the cell level, you will see that your training has to be built up on training periods (intense training, low intensity training, rest periods etc.). That means that you can not go full throttle 100%.

Overtraining is not just a word but a complex medical conditions. Many drastic changes in the body will take place some of them affecting the morfology of muscle cells. As this happens a state will be reached when the body will not be able to perform at the same level.

Recovery may take anything from couple of weeks to a year (in some cases the body never recovers).

Im not an overtrained old man by the way. :)

Since I'm fairly new, yes, I have problems sometimes to choose the correct weights since I tend to choose less over more. Will choose more today ;)

Wow been nearly 8 months since i posted this, Im happy to say now that on most sessions i do feel like i put my all into the workout! :)

I think back then, my diet was poor concluding me to feel weak on many sessions, that is probably why i never thought i worked to my 100%.

I wonder how long it took this "Non-overly trained man" to earn his Phd. in Bull****?
