Poor mans diet, looking for tips/advice/other cheap foods to consider

Because I know people are gonna have an aneurysm, yes, ramen is part of this diet atm. Well aware of the sodium, fried in fat and all that, to put this in perspective I'm a full time student in the states and my food budget is at about 30 bucks a month and can't really budge much beyond that. And at 18 cents a package, it's really easy on my wallet.

So anyway, I'm starting doing 2 meals a day, a single block of ramen each meal with a large egg cooked inside it with can veggies thrown in (peas/carrots)

Today was the beginning of this and wanted some thoughts and was hoping people might know of other cheap foods outside of value menus, this is pretty much what my daily routine for food is going to look like for probably a whole semester;

Ramen, single brick (no seasoning)
1 large egg
1/4 cup of peas/diced carrots
1/2 One A Day multivitamin

Approximately 512 calories, 60g carbs, 21g fat (no trans), 18g protein, 459 mg sodium.

This puts me at less then 1100 calories, and I'm well aware thats pretty low. I also swim for 30 minutes twice a week (I might actually stop).

So...anyone know of any cheap foods I can add to this? Anyone else on a strict food budget?

For inexpensive healthy eating I'm a big fan of dry green lentils and regular brown rice. You probably don't want to spend a lot of time cooking, but if you buy a 1 pound bag of each and cook them up on the week end it would probably last you several days. Season the lentils with some oil, salt and garlic for the simplest way to serve. The lentils are also great with lots of sautéed diced onion and curry powder in them.

Never cooked with lentils before, I'll give that a try.

*Also adding oatmeal, can get that pretty cheap in bulk.
