The best way to burn off excess body fat is to:
1. Control calories
2. Increase muscle mass
3. Perform some form of calorie burning exercise.
In terms of point one, you must eat less calories than you burn to start to eat into your body's calorie reserve (body fat).
When discussing the best form of exercise to help you burn body fat, can I suggest you write each of the following down on a piece of paper. Before each session pull one out of a hat (a small bag will do), then perform. That way you will randomly change your work out each time (or maybe not).
1. Treadmill, bike, rower, xtrainer, stepper - each for 10 mins at 70% max HR.
2. Treadmill, xtrainer - each for 15 mins at 80% max HR
3. Rower - 1000m fast, run - 1 mile fast, bike - cycle 3000m fast.
4. Stepper - complete 200 floors, xtrainer - 3 km
5. Run 1 min at 85% max HR, walk slowly for 1 min. Repeat 10 times.
6. Swim for 30 mins
7. Perform a mini tri games - cycle for 5 km, run for 2 miles then swim for 30 lengths.
7. Think of your own.
8. Etc.
The point I'm trying to make is keep things fresh, keep your body guessing and have fun!
