How do you get rid of stubborn belly fat? I'm not really fat, I have a small frame but then I have a lot of fat on my belly and lovehandles I can grab with my hands. I want to get rid of it :(

You can't target weight loss. You have to lose weight all over and it'll come off when it comes off.

Read the stickies on the board and you'll get a lot of good information on eating well and exercising. :)
 
My understanding is that your body has it's own genetic preferences for how and where the fat is gained, and that when you lose it it tends to come of the way it went on on but in reverse. If all your fat is focused on your belly it is most likely that you put the 1st fat you gained on around the belly.

And Kara is very right. No such thing as spot reduction. Burn more calories than you take in in a wise and sane fashion and it will melt away sooner or later.

You could always turn to lipo...LOL.
I've found no matter how small I get, as a girl I will always have a bit of a muffin top above my jeans. Sadly the supermodel flat stomach is a bit beyond my reach!
 
cardio won't do it for that last little bit of fat. Take a look at sprinters, then take a look at long distance runner. Notice how sprinters have way less body fat and look way more lean? Cardio can take you down to a low body weight, no doubt. but to lose that last little bit leaving you with that toned lean appearance you're gonna have to stop doing as much running and hit the weight room. no way around it. Once you hit your genetic normal level of body fat, the only way you're going lower is resistance training and a closely watched diet thats protein high and carb lowish...
 
in fact in my realm of nutrition and exercise for physical performance there are ways of spot reducing fat but its not as the title suggests. MGR was right, your body stores fat in places for a reason, and it all comes down to the hormonal pathways in your body. weight gain around the middle is classically due to adrenal stress from many causes. so adressing adrenal health will as a result stimulate fat reduction in that particular area of the body.

charles polequin is the foremost researcher in this area. metabolic typing also address hormonal imbalances within the body. a pouch on the front could also be an indication of food sensitivities which you would have to idenfity with a skilled practitioner.
