God, I am so tired of being fat. I am looking to loose a lot of weight. I am 15 in 3 months, 5'7" and 250 pounds. I NEED to loose it, I have been in a depressive state for almost 2 years, tried 3 differant diets on 7 differant occasions, but I always get discouraged and give up. So what I need, is for some kind soul to lay out a plan for me. Tell me what I need to do, exercise and diet wise, to lose about 70 pounds and keep it off. My downfall is that I always get bored and end up eating. What can I do to stop that? Please help. Thank you.

OK take a deep breath and relax... :D

I'm gonna sound maternal for a moment, but at your age, you're body is still growing and changing, have you mentioned to your parents or your family doctor that you're depressed about your weight? Have they suggested a diet plan for you?

How tall are you?

I assume that your mom does the cooking in the house? have you talked to her about preparing healthier meals for the family?

What diets have you tried and why did they fail? Why did you get discouraged? too restricting? Not enough progress?

A good healthy diet will have you losing about 2 pounds a week... but you'll see a noticable difference in about 6 - 8 weeks .

OK -- so let's have afood discussion with your mom...

But you can control your snacking- what do you snack on during the day?

then let's talk exercise...

YOu're still in school? DO you want ot play any sports?

You can do simple things like just going for a walk... walk for 30 minutes every day.

{{{{HUG}}}} Just because - don't tell anyone though because i'm kind of a meanie :D

And just to give you some hope, my baby brother, whos know 38 - was a chubby teenager, probably topped the scales at 300 plus til he was about 16 - then he grew about a foot and started playing lacrosse..and well.. he didn't stay chubby long... my baby brother is now 6'4 - very muscular and has a blonde absolutely gorgeous wife... :D

Ok that makes it better then - who does the grocery shopping?

Do you have siblings that are also overweight and want to work on themselves or is it just you?

Hmmm- -in your home schooling, do you have to take any kind of health class or even science, maybe you could do some research into nutrition and what makes up a healthy diet... and whatyou should be eating..

I'm honestly a little hesitant to tell you what you should be eating, parents tend to get a little annoyed when random strangers tell their children what to do :)

but a healthy eating plan is something that would benefit you and your entire family... and i will assist you, as will many here, in any way we can... :D you aren't alone here..

You can find alot of sites online that tell you things to do instead of eating, just google it. I think if you restrict your intake to around 1200 a day, with around 20-60 minutes of exercise, you should be losing weight in no time =]

Hi there & welcome!!!! The great thing is that you want to get control of this NOW while you are still young! That is great!
Now...you are pretty young and will still be growing so you don't want to go rediculously strict on yourself. You mentioned that when you get bored you eat. When I was 16, we moved away from the private school I was attending and we homeschooled using the same stuff for the last 2 years, so I know what kind of snacking temptations this can bring on! Summer months are not any easier! The best thing I can suggest for you to start with is to cut out any and all sugary drinks and if you need a snack between meals because you are hungry, ONLY allow yourself fruits or veggies. That right there is going to cut out a HUGE amount of calories when you compare it to all the typical snacky stuff that is so easy to munch on! If you are not able to eat lower-calorie meals, then be cautious about your portion sizes and don't go for seconds. AS for bordom? Time to get out for a few little walks here and there during your day. If you break up the boredom with an occassional walk here and there, I think it will help you not be so depressed also.

Above all....you should definitely talk to you parents about your concerns. Keep in touch!!!

i agree you are still growing. you should talk to yr parents, maybe there is someone in yr family that can be a weight loss buddy, to help keep you on a good weight loss program

bored too

back until, well recently, i always ate when i was bored. that is where i gained alot of my weight. I consider that one of the most difficult habits to break. what i suggest is when you get bored and go and stare at the pantry (at least i always did) pick out something better than chips or leftover pizza of whatever. i found that baby carrots are good for just munching and kept me occupied. I know how it feels to be depressed and eat. its much worse than jsut being depressed. hang in there.

So young

Hi ya.

I am not going to tell u anything u probably already know. U need to burn more then u take into ur body. At 15, u need certain amounts of calcium and other vitamins but if ur putting just rubbish food past ur mouth, u are going to diminish the body's ability to absorb what it needs. I suggest as a nurse, u get in to see ur local GP/MD and discuss this with them. They can then give u the appropriate information for ur individual needs. U may have a medical issue that isnt disclosed to us and rightly so and any wrong info could be dtrimental to ur health and actually cause more harm then gd. I cld giv u an idea of a typical diet but honestly u need to get involved with medical people and just discuss it with them. They can refer u to appropriate ppl like dieticians who can put together an appropriate diet for u!! Encourage ur family to support ur efforts because that is a HUGE factor!!

Keep incontact on how things pan out- i am fighting my weight with my program and i am sure there is smthing for u out there for u!

dee

Go for a walk. Its easy exercise and helps fight boredom and get you away from the kitchen.
