Hi,
I am a 21 year old male from the UK, I have never done any sort of weight training before, and other than playing football (soccer), don't really do a lot of fitness.. But I have figured it's never too late to do something about it, and time to get fitter and stronger.
So, really the first question is about equipment. I have decided that a gym isn't the best thing for my circumstances. I work a lot of hours, and combined with a serious lack of gyms within a decent distance of my home and work - I have decided it best to invest my money in my own equipment. I don't have a big budget, but I can save and build up my collection of equipment as time progresses, so thoughts on what the final list of equipment need to be are much appreciated.
The main goals are two fold -
1. Fitness
If i am starting with one, a treadmill, cross trainer, rowing machine.. which is best to begin to build general fitness higher?
2. Muscle building (Size-wise)... but not too big!
Soooo - Obviously weights will be needed, a bench - but is it best to get a straight bench, or a bench with the fly, a multi gym etc..? and what weights are the best to begin with? As I said, I have never weight trained before, and therefore do not want to shoot above my weight, or injure myself by lifting in the wrong manor.
Any help and advice on equipment is much appreciated.
Thennn.. the routine.. once the equipment is bought, how and when to use it is the next question.. I have read about other people's routines and have seen that time to rest after workouts is very important. So suggested routines to try and see which works based on my goals of fitness and size building would be much appreciated.
Thank you in advance,
I look forward to any help available.
Dan.
