Please help me get in shape!!!!

Im going to play high school football and am trying to get in shape. im trying to loose fat and gain muscle. Ive been doing the Schools summer weights program, its one hour long every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. we do all sorts of things like strength training, sprints, calisthenics, and just running. I want to get more of a workout. i have about 5 weeks before football starts. im wondering what i should do, i was gonna start running on the treadmill like 40 minutes a day, but i dont know what else to do, i also was wondering what i should eat on what days, because in summer weights we do cardio and strength training on the same day. Thanks for the help!

Nice to see you are dedicated to getting better! I would recommend running hills and or trails. These are both extremely tough cardio workouts, and help with muscle confusion. This will quickly build muscle in your legs and give you the explosiveness needed to be a good football player.

To quickly gain strength in your upper body, do a push up/pull up workout. These both will build tons of muscle, and will both be valuable in football.

We train many pro football players, and explosive drills such as hills, jumps and sprints are often our focus point. Feel free to connect with us on or for more info. Hope this helps!

I presume this is american football, anyway its the same for most sports - every position needs different skills for example a linesman needs more pure power than cardio endurance, like you won't see a linesman running marathons.
I agree with the previous poster as running hills and trails will help cardio wise and cause muscle confusion, as said. However do not neglect your interval (sprint style) training as most american football plays are what, 10 seconds long? Then you have a little break which is similiar to intervals as in you have intense short session and then a little break.
Hope this helps :D
