I've recently acquired an unstoppable craving for peanuts. I literally cannot control myself, I bought a can of peanuts and I've been snacking a bit here and there from it for the past few days. But their fat content is so high!!! But I've heard that it is "good fat". What is the truth about this?

Nuts do contain good fat, but they also contain a lot of calories...

Yeah, what mal said. Good snack but be carefull. They also, to me, fall into the "hard to know how many you ate" category. A serving is an ounce which is actually pretty few nuts. Also if you want to eat them for health benefits you would be better off with other nuts. Peanuts are really not nuts at all and while definitely not "bad" for you, there are healthier options.

I freakin' LOVE peanuts, actually any nuts, but I try to avoid all. The high calorie count compared to serving size is mind boggling and it's easy to eat more than a few handfuls. I tend to consume nuts only if it's an addition to something, like a salad or granola bar. Nuts would be one of my "3 wishes" foods if I could magically transform something into a low cal food. With nuts there really isn't a low cal option.
