Parkour challenge MTV

Looks like I missed the first airing but MTV 2 is airing the Ulimate Parkour challenge on 11/07 at 11:20pm eastern time(Comcast ch 273)

I had no idea what this was until I googled it. Might have to set the dvr to catch the show.

Anyone else who googles it, don't go to the first link Google brings up, it has a virus associated with it and will virus protection software will go a little crazy :)

Parkour

L'art du deplacement. The art of moving. The object is to negotiate obstacles in the most efficient way possible using only the human body and the obstacle.

I think I remember it as being developed by the French Military, but I may be off base there.

I've made the decision that this discipline would probably lead to my death or serious injury so I admire the art from afar. However, if you research the training routines you'll pick up lots of great body weight exercises and outdoor training. It's a great way to change up your workouts.

I found it..... it's called "street climbing"..

Parkour

Free running is another Americanized Parkour form. I like the original term Parkour because the French are sooo French and it's cooler to say Parkour than some of the other names. Although Free Runners or ing sounds good also.

lol....Parkour does have more of a ring to it....:D

The only thing I hate about Parkour are some of the goobers that go along with it. Well, that sounds wrong, let me rephrase that. The impression of how easy it is because it it just shows people jumping and climbing over fences and rails.

I went to a local meet to see some of the locals and some of the people that actually came from out of town and most of the locals that do this stuff are people nowhere near in shape enough to be doing what they are doing and are going to get hurt. It gives the wrong impression that anybody who can do flips and/or roll on the ground after a jump can do parkour. These kids were running and jumping down 10 stairs and were exhausted after one 5 second run. It was PATHETIC to see these kids who did a flip off a bench think they're in shape, when they can barely hold a sprint for 5 seconds. If you're winded from a short sprint, you probably shouldn't be trying to jump of that 15 stair set. It was more delusional than anything I guess, but it would really suck to see one of them get hurt simply because of that.
