Pain in both legs, between knee and feet - need suggestion

Hi,

I am a running enthusiast. Have run 10K in 53 mins a few months ago.

I've a unique kind of pain between my knees and feet. Mostly in the bone running along with Soleus muscle. It is sharp, painful and last throughout the day.

Its like when I started running this pain existed. I ignored it and kept on running assuming that it'll go with time. But it stayed and made my runs make a mark on both my body and mind throughout the day. Despite the pain I ran 10K and was happy. Then was stuck with work and now when I am back on track, so is the pain in my legs. I run on mud in a stadium where other professional athletes practice.

I first do a warm up walk for around 10 mins, then stretch for around 5 mins and then start jogging. And as I start to jog, I start feeling the pain. It si mostly in bone so not sure whether stretching can help me or not.. Though I've not stopped running, but this pain is a horrible experience.

I've good quality FILA running shoes and was a boxer in childhood. Now I want to run a half marathon in coming say, 8 months. But if this pain persists then Half marathon may not be possible.

Please advise if you've felt the same or have a solution to the same. Thanks.

Regards,
Aura!

Solution- go see a doctor!

Yes, see a doctor as only a professional can diagnose you. That said, your symptoms are consistent with shin splints. (They are also consistent with a stress fracture which is why you need to have this checked out by a professional). If they are shin splints, I got all kinds of "this will work for you" suggestions including stretching, icing, ibuprofen, specific exercises, massages, blah blah blah and none of them worked. The only thing that got me back on track was resting the tendons for 6 - 8 weeks until they were FULLY healed, probably 6 - 8 weeks. Cutting any corners will only make you start from the beginning.

Good luck and tell us what the diagnosis is.
