pain-footwear-help!!!!!!!!

hey guys ive been runnning for a while now and recently ive been getting a pain in my anckles durting and after running, at first i just let it slide but now its got intolerable. the footware i use is shoddy to say the least. it cost £15 and its as thin as a supermodel. i know it must be the traiiners im wearing because they give no support on any party of my foot. so anyways, ive got the point where im finally able to spend a large sum on trainers. my budget is £60 (im far from rich at the moment) and wanted you guys to give me a helping hand in choosing. im completely ignorant to knowing what to look for in a shoe,so please help guys, i need advice urgently!!!
any tips on what to look for in a running shoe would be of the upmost importance
cheers
jim

take your bad shoes with you... go to a store that caters to runners... tell them your problems... show them your shoes...

They have every incentive you help you... if the get it correct you will come back and buy another pair of shoes from them...

ok thanks guys, by the way running without shoes isnt really a option for me, i always run in a field at night. running in fields at night time is amazing.if any of you havent tried it its really worth a try.
