The company believes Z Trim could play a crucial role in fighting the obesity epidemic.

Wouldn't educating the students play a better role?

"It tastes the same," said R.J. Fazio, a 15-year-old sophomore feasting on ravioli and a side salad topped with white globs of ranch dressing. "It doesn't bother me."
Sounds like the above kid is headed for trouble - just because it's fat free or lower fat, doesn't mean you should have globs of dressing.. moderation...

Using kids in schools as test subjects is not good either. Educating kids on the right way to eat and offering healthier choices is what the schools should be doing. They are supposedly offering "healthier" choices in the school district that my kids are in but I think that the food looks awful and my kids only like half of the stuff they offer. Parents need to push for better choices and healthier foods. At the school my kids go to they bring in pizza once a week for the kids from the major pizza chains in town. They figure if they also give the kids a veggie and some milk that it is healthy for them but I have been at the school during lunch and most times the kids throw away the veggies and choose chocolate milk over plain milk so what are they really getting that is healthy. Teach kids to eat the right way and don't disguise it in ranch dressing!
