Over Heating

I participated in a sprint triathlon this past Sunday. I drank two big bottles of Gatorade 2 hrs before the start. I felt great on the swim and the bike, and I admit that I did not proberly hydrate on the bike (drank 1/2/ water bottle of Gatorade on 15 mile bike).

OMG, I felt like I was going to die about 1/2 mile into it. My mouth felt like I had been eating paste. I was so hot that, even though it was 85 degrees (and humid) the slight breeze made me break out in goosebumps. There was only one water stop at 1 1/2 miles (on a 5k).

I run 3-4 miles a day on weekdays and 6-7 on the weekend. So a 5k should feel that bad.

Ultimately, my time wasn't bad, 26:45 at the Tri when my average on a 5k is about 25:30, but I felt AWFUL.

Could I have gotten that hot because I was not properly hydrated? Or is womething else going on.

It could be that you were dehydrated. But maybe everyone else doing the tri felt like that too. It could have just been a ridiculously humid day that caused everyone to suffer.

Unfortunately, I knew about 18 people doing the race and no one else reported feeling that much like poo. Believe me, I aksed.
