Ouch. Reality check.

Yep. I got one of those tonight.

It's called a Jeep with a very solid bumper.

I was at fault.

I did an illegal u-turn tonight thinking I did not see anyone but alas - it was coming for me when I least expected it. I managed to floor it in order to avoid a DIRECT hit from his bumper, and by direct I mean right on the driver's door and through me. It ended up smashing my rear end but my frame seems fine since all doors still close (even the trunk). No hit to the wheel either.

Anyhow, both drivers are ok...my head got a little shaken but I'm good.

I was so surprised when he was coming for me..."What? Um..no, this isn't happening. BAMMMMMM!!"

I just got home, started thinking and realized that death just knocked on my door and I almost answered. I could have lost every opportunity to do all the things I ever wanted to do.

My clean driving record is gone.
Pride and Body injured.
Insurance to sky-rocket.
BUT I'M STILL HERE!!!!!!!!!!! WOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Time to get hammered :rofl::rofl::rofl:

But honestly...I am making a promise to live a little harder from now on....what...wait...no...not a little harder....MUCH MUCH HARDER.

RaaaAaawwWWWRR!!

in your story i liked the part where u didnt die

At least you didn't crash into a parked car because the sun was in your eyes and you were messing with the defroster like someone I know.

That someone being me.

Glad to see your okay, sh1t happens and its actually a good experience. You'll drive a lot more carefully in the future.

Jeeps....very solid cars, but if you want to bang it up, go rock crawlin'......:D

Glad you are ok......:p :D

I was charged with a turn not in safety. 110$ with 3 points lost.

Guy was cool...kinda barked some random crap when it happened but when he saw I was a little banged up he settled down...he was pretty cool and everything...so we're all the people around us.

My deductible is 500$ :D

I have a slight head ache but that's it.

Drivers school and insurance won't go up

Do all states have this option? I know I had that option for a speeding ticket but do they give that choice for an accident like this?

By the way....When I got my speeding ticket a few months ago I paid the extra $30 to have to go to a drivers safety class so that it wouldn't be on my record (which is perfect). It's been 6 months and I never heard about it again. My check that I sent was cashed but I never heard about the class and thus never had to attend. As far as I know I'm lucky :D

take this in the nicest way possible:

The reality check shouldn't be that you wrecked your car or that you almost got hurt, the reality check should be that traffic laws are there for a reason, and there could have very easily of been a kid in the car, or a motorcycle, or some other set of circumstances that lead to someone being killed by your mistake. If someone does something stupid to themselves taht's one thing, but what you did could have been the end of someone doing nothing wrong.

Yep - I totally agree.

The happy part is that no one got hurt physically.

As for the lesson learned, I think the most important lesson is that you should really pay attention to signs and stuff. I learned that you get from point A to point B faster if you just drive the speed limit and pay attention to the signs. Many times I witness people speeding up or doing all these crazy stuff only to be further delayed by their quickness.

Repeat after me:

You must allow "some" ill feelings as a result of your error in judgement, and allow it to transition into your positive learning development, and thus learn many new things when making critical mistakes.

You will take the information among the emotions, feelings, and thoughts, that were created from this error in judgement, collect and use them to improve your self character and add to your new self discovery.

When you go to bed tonight, keep repeating to yourself, "This was a serious error of personal judgement". Everybody makes varing errors of personal judgement. I have learned many new things from making this serious error of personal judgement. I will pay the price to self-improve. I will take personal responsibility and take care of the problem, and be a improved person when I am done.

Let your past improve your present. Investigate. Evaluate. Improve yourself. Be the judge of yourself by the questions you ask yourself and the self answers you return.

I am only human. Now I must move on...

Best regards,

Chillen

Traffic school won't make the at-fault crash disappear from the insurance records, even if it hides the citation (unlikely, since the insurance companies will be reviewing the crash reports which likely indicate what citations were given).

+1 on that!!

Way to cheat death!!!!

Glad your okay Eric......don't feel too bad; nobody goes through life without an accident or two, just happy everyone is okay. Go to traffic-school, you'll be fine, and for the rest of your life you'll never get yourself in that situation again.
