Oryx Goat Whey

whats so bad about artificial sweeteners or flavors? Thats what makes protein shakes consumable. Or would it be better for it to be natural sweeteners like cane sugar?

artifical anything in food is bad because it is not natural to our bodies but then again that's another entire thread

who knows.
I agree, fake sweetners shouldn't be consumed in mass quantities.
but stuff with Splenda/sucralose is pretty safe since its just a normal sugar molecule with a chlorine ion bonded to it, so the body cannot process it.

I'd still avoid stevia, nutrasweet, and esp. sacchrine.

Stevia? you want to avoid a plant? Stevia is 0Calorie sweetener that is totally natural no man made chemicals or anything added. Its what the american indians used for as far back as their history goes. If one should take any sweetener then it should be Stevia. What do you have against it Malkore?

Sucralose is produced by chlorinating sugar (sucrose). This involves chemically changing the structure of the sugar molecules by substituting three chlorine atoms for three hydroxyl groups.

NO long term study has EVER been done on the substance (splenda/Sucralose)
though i must admit surely it is better then Monsanato's aspartame

Despite the manufacturer's mis-statements, sucralose does break down into small amounts of 1,6-dichlorofructose, a chemical which has not been adequately tested in humans. More importantly, sucralose must break down in the digestive system. If it didn't break down and react at all (as the manufacturer claims), it would not chemically-react on the tongue to provide a sweet taste. The truth is that sucralose does break down to some extent in the digestive system.
The FDA says there is only 11 percent to 27 percent absorption, but the Japanese Food Sanitation Council says as much as 40 percent is absorbed by the body.

According to the Sucralose Toxicity Information Center, the absorbed sucralose and its metabolites (chemically altered substances) concentrate in the liver, kidney, and gastrointestinal tract

Since we are into the artificial sweeteners again, I still don't trust any of them and prefer to use an unflavored whey mixed in juice.

The ingredients of this particular product though do not appear to really say what it has for a sweetener in it. It just lists "prosucro" which if you happen to google only comes up with sites about this product. Weird

Testosterone Nation - The Truth About Sucralose

A good read on sucralose/Splenda, with a section on why I don't care for stevia.

FDA's has a double standards towards Stevia versus other artificial sweeteners, in 1991, the National Institutes of Health, published a bibliography titled Adverse Effects of Aspartame which cites nearly 170 medical/health reasons to avoid aspartame like the plaque. Yet, the FDA continues to endorse it.

To date, the United States' FDA has not approved it as a "sweetener" although they have approved it as "dietary supplement". In contrast, Canada, South America, Japan and China use Stevia extensively as a sweetener in everything from soft drinks to candy, to desserts. The Coca-Cola company manufactures Diet Coke in Canada and Japan sweetened with Stevia and not aspartame/NutraSweet like its American Diet Coke counterpart.

Just wanted to say, that my Diet Coke that is in my hand here in Canada is Acesulfame and Aspartame exactly the same as in USA. I haven't seen any products sweetened with Stevia outside of organic stores in all of Canada and I have been here a little over 30 years.

I have been using Oryx Goat Whey for about a month now and it is PHENOMENAL!!!

In the past I have always struggled with protein supplements mainly because I am extremely lactose intolerant. Even with muscle milk (which claims being lactose free) I would get mild acid indigestion after using it.

I took the Oryx Goat Whey because my roommate is a manager at a local GNC store and he gave me a case for free (I never shop at GNC because I think a lot of their stuff is junk). I have been taking it ever since and it's just great. 1 serving of Goat Whey is 35 g whereas one serving of MuscleMilk is 75 g. So you get almost the same amount of protein (30 g vs. 32 g) in less than half the serving size. I can down a drink of Goat Whey in one gulp and really does taste great as far as supplements go. Better tasting than muscle milk. And I've never had any issues with acid reflux, gas or anything that is usually triggered with milk products.

If you mix in a tea spoon of natural peanut butter and mix it all in water it tastes REALLY, REALLY good. Good enough to drink just for the taste.

Another thing I've noticed is that my gains have been lean. I am using it with another supplement called Razorbolic by Rockhard Formulations. I've added just a couple of pounds of muscle since I started the two, but no fat. With musclemilk I would always add a little fat since the fat content is so high.
