who knows.
I agree, fake sweetners shouldn't be consumed in mass quantities.
but stuff with Splenda/sucralose is pretty safe since its just a normal sugar molecule with a chlorine ion bonded to it, so the body cannot process it.
I'd still avoid stevia, nutrasweet, and esp. sacchrine.
Stevia? you want to avoid a plant? Stevia is 0Calorie sweetener that is totally natural no man made chemicals or anything added. Its what the american indians used for as far back as their history goes. If one should take any sweetener then it should be Stevia. What do you have against it Malkore?
Sucralose is produced by chlorinating sugar (sucrose). This involves chemically changing the structure of the sugar molecules by substituting three chlorine atoms for three hydroxyl groups.
NO long term study has EVER been done on the substance (splenda/Sucralose)
though i must admit surely it is better then
Monsanato's aspartame
Despite the manufacturer's mis-statements, sucralose does break down into small amounts of 1,6-dichlorofructose, a chemical which has not been adequately tested in humans. More importantly, sucralose must break down in the digestive system. If it didn't break down and react at all (as the manufacturer claims), it would not chemically-react on the tongue to provide a sweet taste. The truth is that sucralose does break down to some extent in the digestive system.
The FDA says there is only 11 percent to 27 percent absorption, but the Japanese Food Sanitation Council says as much as 40 percent is absorbed by the body.
According to the Sucralose Toxicity Information Center, the absorbed sucralose and its metabolites (chemically altered substances) concentrate in the liver, kidney, and gastrointestinal tract
