Sport organ meats

Chicken hearts, gizzards, livers, and beef heart, liver. Does anyone eat these? I was just cruising the USDA nutriant database and these are all low cal, high protein, very nutritious meat products. Plus they are super cheap at grocery stores. Pretty popular in other countries, just hasn't really caught on here for some reason?

I believe the culinary term is "sweet breads"? Beyond that I am no food expert. But livers I was told in an animal science class are not a good thing to eat - the liver is where your body breaks down and filters toxins and foreign substances. Anything it can't break down is pretty much stored there. So when you eat an animals liver, you are potentially eating any toxin they ever ate and couldn't dispose of, and passing it along for your liver to deal with.

They make great catfish bait

No hell no I wouldnt eat the filtration organs of animals. I think thats why they are so cheap. They are nasty.

Eat the chicken's breast, fish with the gizzards.

be aware of vitamin a content in thosee. If you eat a buttload of vitamin A over a long period of time you can get problems because of it. It does take a lot though, and it does take time, but it's no fun if it happens, and most organ meats that I know of have a pretty high vit A content.
