Optimum 100% Whey Protein

I was thinking of purchasing a 5lb tub of Optimum 100% Whey Protein. After reading some reviews, it seems like a pretty solid product. I am wondering if anyone can suggest me why I should not purchase this product, or if there is any negativity associated to this product?

I want to note that I have not taken any protein powder before, I recently started working out.

its a fine whey powder.

the only negative thing, can be said about ALL protein powders: its not a magic powder! its still 'food', and is really no different than eating some chicken breast.

If the rest of your diet sucks, a whey powder won't fix anything.
If the whey powder puts you over your caloric needs, you WILL gain weight just as though it was a piece of chicken putting you over your caloric needs.

But if you NEED more protein in the diet, and everything else you're doing is 'right', then it can be a real boost towards your goals

I am a big fan of ON's whey. I used to buy the Pro Complex, but I think that was overkill, Now I get the 100% Whey Gold Standard. If you have a local Vitamin Shoppe, they have a pretty decent price for walk in customers. I think it's $42 for 5 lbs.

I do like the pro-complex more, only because several good studies have been done showing that whey + casein/egg protein does a better job maintaining a positive nitrogen balance (i.e. anabolic state) than whey alone, because whey digests too rapidly.

But it really depends on your goals and budget. If you're just after a quick post workout shake once a day, nothing wrong with 100% whey.

It's tough to find a better whey protein than Optium's product for the price + quantity. If you get it online, you'll find great prices.

I personally use Isopure's whey, but that's coming from Optium's product.

Where would you recommend me purchase online? I also want to note that I live in Canada, but I don't mind purchasing it from the states and having it shipped over.

I used to use ON gold standard a few years back and it had a high protein content as well as a great taste.

Heard they changed the taste somehow and now its nowhere near as nice. Opinions?

The double chocolate was brilliant post workout!

This is why I use Myofusion for mine. It's a whey/casein blend rather than being pure whey. I used to use ON Whey but the only thing I still use it for is protein breakfast smoothies.

hey mate i've tried alot of powders and ON 100% is what im currently taking and i have to i'll definately buy it again, but with most supps it tends to be trail and error what some people praise might not work well for others.
