Sport Opinions about the Paleo Diet

I was wondering what the general opinions are about following the Paleo Diet? I'm not talking about using it to lose weight, i just mean in general? Does anyone follow it? How do you feel about it?

Thanks

I'd never heard about it until this post. I checked it out online and it sounds alright. Getting back to the roots of man may not be such a bad idea. However, the society we live in today doesn't permit such a diet to be easy. That is... unless you haul all of your food around.

Looks good. I'd say go for it if you've read all there is to read on pros/cons.

Good luck.

I don't follow this diet, but I do haul a LOT of food around with me on a day to day basis, and some whey protein for when I need the help with the diet. It gets annoying carrying a bag full of food everywhere lol.

I just find it helps me avoid buying the pre-packed foods, or a sandwich from a sandwich shop at lunch. Even though most sandwich places in the UK (Non mainstream ones, i.e not subway) use fresh chicken etc, I just like to know as closely as possible what's in my food.

Carrying the sack of food is the only way :eating:

Assuming by paleo diet you are referring to an attempt to eat what humans before agriculture ate, during our hunter/gatherer days, and what humans eveolved to eat: fruits, nuts, berries, raw vegetables and meat, NO grains or processed foods, I think it is the healthiest, although not the easiest, diet possible for most individuals.

my diet is pretty close to begin with. If they had a level 4, i'd be there...I do have the once in a while pasta dish, and every once in a while i eat some pizza, but for the most part i'm well over half way there.

There are a few things that i will have a problem with giving up:
I love vinegars, pickles, cheese, fermented foods, beans will be difficult to get rid of, i used to really be a salt lover, but it has slowly diminished. I will take some work , but i like the ideas of it. I'm still doing some research to help me understand the acid base balance withen the diet.
