Today I decided to start a journal. My goal in this journal is to record my eating/drinking/exercises habits and regularly remind myself of my long term health goals. This approach was very effective for me in another area of my life and I have been able to make substantial changes to that area since January.
I'm a 31 year old guy that has a few more pounds than I want to have and is feeling lousy about eating more processed foods than I want to, drinking more alcohol than I want to, and exercising less than I want to.
So, my goals are to 1) minimize eating processed/heavy foods; 2) minimize drinking alcohol; and 3) exercise daily, either cardio or strength. I'd like to slim down quite a bit but also maintain a healthy amount of muscle.
I want to be intentional about my eating/drinking/exercise for the next six months (July 1 - January 1). After that, I'll reevaluate.
So, in that spirit, today I will eat only a veggie-only salad at whole foods with a non-processed/non-fat dressing; and, after work, I'll go for a seven-mile run. When I get home, I'll throw away the beers in the fridge and clean my apartment. I'll post the results this evening.
Cheers!
