one more thread about ELLIPTICAL

If you were buying an elliptical machine for your home now, which one would you choose?

There are so many to choose from, and I couldn't find a good site with
organized info what to look for, how to pick the best one. Do you know
any? And what about the feature of how much you get to stretch your
legs while working out (does that make sense?). What number I should
be looking for - I noticed 16" stride, 20"stride.. Is that even important?

We looked at Horizon e95 at Dicks while we were there today for smth else.
It says original price 1199$, and it's on sale for 599. Is it
any good in your opinion?

My husband and I are in a health/weigh crisis, so this would be a great jump start for us. :)
THANKS!

This is a much more solid, low cost elliptical. How much are you willing to spend?

That's about right money wise. I do not want to buy anything cheap, but nothing super expensive. I would hate to see big money wasted if we do not stick to our workouts.

Could you explain me more about stride? The one you showed me says 18" strides - is it good?

18" is a nice stride. That is what I have on my LifeFitness elliptical. I am about 5' 9" and it feels just like running. The Horizon felt much to bouncy to me. More like a stepper than an elliptical. I feel that the Nordic Track model that I showed you is the best value at the price and is equal to many over $1000 ellipticals. It is a very sturdy, smooth, and natural feeling elliptical. You can't go wrong at that price IMO. There is nothing in that price range that can compare.

One more question. Would this Norditrack would be better than the one you showed me before?

Sorry to bother you so much.

In my opinion no. Front drive ellipticals that have wheels running in tracks as this one does are usually not as sturdy, smooth, require more maintenance, and don't have the true elliptical feel to them, particulaly the inexpensive ones. The higher priced ones are okay but we are talking well over $1000 for them. If you want to buy from Costco, try the NordicTrack CX938 FOR $499. It doesn't have as many bells and whistles as the one I originally suggested, but it is sturdy, durable, and very smooth. If you don't like it, Costco will take it back and give you a refund.

You have to be careful when you buy an Elliptical. Because of their structure of almost riding in air on pins, there is a great tendency to squeak and rattle. If you going for an elliptical instead of a treadmill, get a good one. Buy something for at least $1500.00 or believe me, you gonna have so much problems, you will regret it - unless you won't mind the squeaking and the rattling :)
